Street Fighter 5 Sells 1.4 Million Units, Falls Short of Projections

Capcom notes that the game "maintained steady sales mainly overseas."

In its recent Investor Relations report, Capcom has revealed that Street Fighter 5 sold 1.4 million units on the PS4 and PC since launching in February. The company had projected sales of two million units over this period though, so it’s essentially fallen short of its own expectations.

The company noted that, “Street Fighter 5 (for PlayStation 4 and PC) remained a perennial favorite and maintained steady sales mainly overseas.”

Despite good mechanics and visuals at launch, Street Fighter 5 was criticized for its overall lack of content. A true single player Story mode was missing along with Trials and Arcade mode. The network performance also faced numerous problems, to say nothing of the rage quitters who went by unpunished.

Capcom has added a new system to punish quitters though and there will be a cinematic Story mode out in June. What are your thoughts on Street Fighter 5? Let us know in the comments below.
