Street Fighter 6 has been one of the mostly highly anticipated games of the year for some time, so there was never any doubt that it would come out the gates flying, and based on the early numbers it’s seeing on Steam, it seems to be doing just that.
As per SteamDB, Street Fighter 6 has enjoyed a peak concurrent user count on Steam of 65,873 players (at the time of writing) at launch. That’s significantly higher than the all time concurrent user peak of its predecessor, Street Fighter 5, which currently sits at 14,783 players.
In fact, as pointed out by @BenjiSales on Twitter, Street Fighter 6’s PC launch has also eclipsed most other major fighting releases in recent years, with a concurrent user peak that’s nearly twice that of Mortal Kombat 11 (35,147), and significantly higher than the likes of Tekken 7 (18,966) and Mortal Kombat X (15,743).
It’s the highest ever peak concurrent user count on Steam for any Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Tekken game to date. Of course, Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8 are both also gearing up for launch in the not-too-distant future, so it should be interesting to see how they fare upon release.
Prior to its launch, Capcom said it was expecting lifetime sales of over 10 million units for Street Fighter 6. Based on its early performance, the Japanese publisher should be comfortable with that forecast, to say the least.
In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Street Fighter 6 is more than the sum of its individually excellent parts. It’s a return to form for a franchise that’s been on the back foot for years, and a stellar fighting game as a whole.” Read the full review through here.
Street Fighter 6 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
