Street Fighter V Producer Discusses His Vision For The Game

'This isn't a game, it's a set of tools for players to express themselves with.'

Street Fighter V will be the fifth entry in the long running fighting game series. It is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC next year, against all odds, and the new game will focus on constant evolution and iteration via a stream of updates, as opposed to multiple discrete releases, as well as a smaller number of fighters, but with more technical variation.

According to Yoshinori Ono, producer of the game, Street Fighter V will hopefully be a game that evens the competitive playing field, and forces players to relearn combat all over again. He mentioned that the development team is not approaching the development of the title as a game, as much as a toolset to be handed to the players, which they can explore and learn to express themselves with.

Given just massively successful Street Fighter IV and its follow ups were, Street Fighter V has some big shoes to fill- thankfully, going by the beta tests, it appears as though it may be able to do just that.
