Subnautica Leaving Early Access on January 23rd

The hotly anticipated underwater exploration title will finally launch in full.

Over the past few years, Subnautica from Unknown Worlds Entertainment has built a strong following on Steam Early Access. Described often as “No Man’s Sky but good”, Subnautica will finally be leaving Early Access on January 23rd. The developer has announced on Twitter that it will be hosting a livestream to celebrate the launch of the game, right down to pushing “the Big Red Launch Button”.

The launch stream will begin at 6:15 PM ET/9:15 PM PT and will include the debut of the cinematic trailer, interviews with the developers and sea creatures. As in, real sea creatures. No word yet on whether the stream will place in an aquarium.

Subnautica can be purchased on Steam currently and has seen a number of updates over the years. The game focuses on exploration as you crash on an alien planet and must navigate its massive underwater setting. That means coming across sea life, which can either help or harm you, exploring reefs and caves and managing your oxygen supply.
