Rocksteady recently held a Discord Q&A for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, where it not only revealed some of the end-game content players would engage in but also a Joker-themed area. Game director Axel Rydy is excited about build variety and says the team is looking at ” across all four characters.
As reported by IGN, Rydby said, “Well, first of all, when we designed the game, player choice and player freedom was one of our core design philosophies. We want you to feel like you can make each character your own, and build it to suit your playstyle. But if you take the leap and really play into the gear, you can find truly crazy powerful combinations.”
Post-launch will also add “A LOT” per Rydby. “At launch, we’re looking at hundreds of possible combinations and permutations for builds across our four characters, and this is something we’re adding A LOT to in post-launch. We’re not supposed to talk about that today though, but I’m excited for you all to see the cool stuff we’ve got cooking.”
Players have eight loadout slots and can equip Afflictions like Deep Freeze, Diablo Blaze, Livewire Bolt and Venom Frenzy (all based on the powers of other DC villains). You also have Talent trees that help to further build into a character’s playstyle and six weapon types – Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Heavy Weapons and Pistols. Each character is proficient in three weapon types.
One example of an early-game build is “SlowMo Crits,” where you suspend enemies with slow motion using The Great Suspender melee weapon and Slow n Steady Grenade. You can then damage them with the Turkey Shoot gun, which guarantees critical hits to slowed enemies.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches on February 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Rocksteady touted it as their “biggest cinematic experience” and “easily our biggest game” in terms of story.
