Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury Confirms Characters Move Faster Than Original Release

Some sections also have reworked gyro controls for some sections.

Next month will see a new 3D Mario release on the Nintendo Switch. Or well, it’s not entirely new. It’s a package of two different titles, essentially, one of them being the new and original Bowser’s Fury, and the other an enhanced release of Super Mario 3D World. The game was originally released on the Wii U, and is seeing some additions. It seems the game’s website has also confirmed two new features that many assumed.

When Super Mario 3D World was first shown for the Switch, some fans thought the characters were moving a little faster than the original. It seems that instinct was right, as the game’s official UK site states: “All characters have received a boost to their running speed and climb even higher after picking up a Super Bell, making platforming that little bit snappier.” It also seems that some sections that used the Wii U’s touchpad will be reworked to use the Switch’s gyro controls instead: “You can now also use gyro controls for certain sections of the game that previously required touch controls.” The Switch also does include a touch screen, so it’s unclear if you can use that in handheld mode.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will release on the Switch February 12th. You can also read some additional gameplay details, specifically about the Bowser’s Fury part of the package, through here.
