Over 210 million Switch games have been sold till date worldwide, according to Nintendo’s recent earnings report. Look out for Super Mario Maker 2 to contribute significantly to that total in the coming months, because it sold 2.42 million units in June alone. The figure is especially impressive considering it released on June 28th and the fiscal year quarter ended on June 30th.
Super Mario Maker 2 received tons of critical praise at launch and was the best-selling game for June 2019 in the United States. It also continues to perform well in Japan’s sales charts. It remains to be seen if it can stay there though, especially with so many high profile first party games on the way.
Nevertheless, it’s just shy of entering Nintendo’s top 10 best-selling first party titles list (with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still reigning supreme). Nintendo also revealed in its earnings report that the Switch had sold 36.87 million copies worldwide. About 2.13 million units of the hardware were sold in Q1 FY2019 itself.
