The first DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is finally out, being dropped stealthily earlier in the month- rather appropriately, considering Joker’s role as phantom thief in the acclaimed Persona 5. The character and his accompanying stage have a painstaking amount of detail to tailor to Joker’s game of origins (which has seen a flurry of recent rumors about finally coming to Switch in recent months), but it seems like his Final Smash attack might have brought some unexpected grief with it.
Multiple players on the game’s Reddit page have reported that using the character’s Final Smash, which mimics the “All Out Attack” in Persona 5 (where all characters in the party attack the enemy at the same time) in Classic Mode can freeze the game completely. You’ll have to go out of the game, close it completely, and restart. As of now, it’s unsure how widespread the issue is, but at the very least it seems like enough people have mentioned running into the problem. Hopefully, Nintendo will get a fix out soon.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, and Joker is expected to show up at the upcoming Persona Super Live 2019 concert in Japan that will finally reveal Persona 5 S and R– whatever they may actually be.
