After tons of hype, the Nintendo Switch received Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December. Sales didn’t disappoint – it was the fastest selling game in the series with over three million units sold in the United States in 11 days. Following its latest earnings release, Nintendo updated its list of best-selling Switch titles and revealed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had sold 12.08 million units worldwide.
Though we knew the game was a huge success with five million units sold worldwide in just three days, this is still pretty incredible. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now ranks below Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (15.02 million units) and Super Mario Odyssey (13.76 million units) in terms of lifetime units sold on the Switch. Considering it’s been out for less than two months, the figure is more monumental.
Nintendo is still doling out support for the game as well. Piranha Plant was just added as DLC character for those who pre-ordered (with a nasty glitch also arriving as a result). More fighters will be coming in the Fighters Pass as well, with Persona 5’s Joker being the first.
