Syberia: The World Before PC Version Delayed to Q1 2022

Microids is committed to "releasing the best possible game" and needs more time "to finalize the development in the best conditions."

After announcing the release date for Syberia: The World Before on PC earlier this week, Microids has now announced a delay for the same. Instead of December 10th, the adventure title will now be releasing in Q1 2022 for PC. The console versions are still slated to release in 2022.

In an update on Twitter, the developer said that, “We are committed to releasing the best possible game offering an immersive adventure which will transport you and remain faithful to the universe of Benoit Sokal. It currently seems necessary to give ourselves a little more time to finalize the development in the best conditions.” More details on the exact release date along with regular updates will be provided in the coming days.

Along with the COVID-19 pandemic potentially still being a factor, it wouldn’t be strange for Microids to need more time to polish the experience (especially given the state that Syberia 3 launched in). As such, the title is more ambitious than previous entries, featuring Kate Walker and a new protagonist in Dana Roze. The player essentially alternates between Taiga in 2004 and Vaghen in 1937, solving mysteries and puzzles. Stay tuned for more details on the release date in the coming days.
