While we wait to see how things pan out for the future of System Shock with the upcoming System Shock 3 – with developers OtherSide Entertainment having struck a deal with Tencent – we’re still going to be able to take a trip down memory lane when Nightdive Studios’ System Shock remake launches. And if you’re wondering how that is coming along, you now have a chance to see for yourself.
A playable pre-alpha demo of the immersive sim has gone up on Steam and GOG, and is available to everyone for free. The description for the demo on the latter reveals that it’s a 2.3 GB download, while the developers also make it clear since this is a very early pre-alpha build, which means the performance and content are not final and might not necessarily be representative of the quality of the final product. Either way, it’s a good opportunity to try it out and see how development on the remake is coming along.
System Shock is in development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but doesn’t yet have a release date. You can check out nearly 90 minutes of pre-alpha gameplay footage through here.
