If you destroy the Ace planes (basically special enemies), you will unlock skins for your aircraft. It’s recommend that you play the game in Hard mode since some Aces won’t appear in other difficulty modes.

Unlocking Named Aircrafts

There are 24 Named Aircraft in Ace Combat 7. All of them have specific requirements, so, let’s take a look at how you can find them all.

Mission 1:

MiG-21 PYRO – Unlocked by destroying the third fleet of enemies. You need to use 4AAM, 6AAM, or 8AAM.

Mission 2:

MiG-29 JESTER – Unlocked by destroying Radar Vehicles and the Control Tower. You need to do before the UAVs come in again.

Mission 3:

F-16C BAYONET: Shoot the enemies within 90 seconds.

Mission 4:

F-15J RONIN: Until radio silence gets over, fly below 650 feet.

Mission 5:

F-15C FANG: Weapons must be disabled and you need to make it through with a minimum of 75% damage.

Mission 6:

F-14D KITTEN: In the West Base, fly through the tunnel.

Mission 7:

TYPHOON FAUCON: Destroy all non-TGT enemies.

Mission 8:

F-15E GAZELLE: Destroy all oil facilities before you run out of time.

Mission 9:

F/A-18F SPIDER: Destroy all Radio Tower but before you do that wipe out at least half of non-TGT enemies.

Mission 10:

GRIPEN E LOUVETEAU: Destroy all SAMS.

Mission 11: 

SU-33 IBIS: You need to pull off a stunt. Make it through the gap in platforms towards the Northeast side.

RAFALE M CHASSEUR: Destroy all aircraft on the platforms.

Mission 12:

SU-34 WALRUS: Stonehenge shouldn’t get hit at all.

MIR-2000-5 FOUDRE: Fly under the Stonehenge.

A-10C BUFFLEL: Destroy all A-10C Thunderbolt IIs.

Mission 13:

MIG-31 COMET: Destroy Solis as fast as you can.

Mission 14:

SU-47 GADFLY: See that canyon? Fly through it.

Mission 15:

SU-37 SERPENT: Earn 5000 points more than the standard requirement.

F-2A BOGEN: Destroy the Aegis.

Mission 16:

SU-35S AXEMAN: Earn 15,000 points more than the standard requirement.

Flares: These are one of the most important features in the game, specially when you re dogfighting with an enemy aircaft. In order to take down missiles that are following your aircraft, you would need to use flares in order to get rid of them. Flares have the same heat/temperature as your aircraft and this accordingly matches with the heat sensing system of the guided missile. In order to activate it, press the two analog sticks together, however, ensure you press them at the right moment. Pressing them earlier, will result in heat paramater mismatch and the missile might hit your aircraft.

Earning MRP Credits Quickly/ Earning Money: Earning MRP is extremely important in the game (you can use them to unlock various aircraft parts which in turn can be used to increase performance). The fastest way to earn a ton of money is through multiplayer. Now, things may get a bit hard since multiplayer matches may be a bit tough compared to single player story missions but if your team wins, you can easily earn around 100,000 MRP credits/money. Other ways include replaying difficult missions in the game. We don’t recommend this method but if you are not well versed with multiplayer you can certainly try this option out.

Know The Different Aircraft Types: Ace Combat 7 divides the various in-game aircrafts into three different types: Attacker, Fighter and Multirole. Attackers are medium paced that are idle for air to ground combat. Fighters are fast paced aircrafts and are idle for air operations. Multirole, as the name suggests, are balanced aircrafts and fall somewhere between the Attacker and Fighter types.

Know Your Aircraft Parts: Ace Combat 7 allows you to upgrade your aircrafts, and you can do this by getting hold of aircraft parts. These aircraft parts can increase speed, missile power, missile ammunition, defence, and much more.

Handling: There are two types of handling in the game, Expert and Standard, and both of them related to the controller’s left stick. As the name suggests, Standard handling allows players to simply use the left stick to turn your plane in either left or right direction. Expert mode tweaks a few things. Players will still be able to use left stick but instead of simply moving towards a particular direction, the plane will make slight rolls, forcing you to use other parameters of your aircraft to accordingly direct the plane.

Clouds:  The clouds in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown are dynamic by nature. Other than the obvious weather effects they bring to the game, they can be used to cover your aircaft from enemies. You may not use the cover for too long but if you need a few seconds of relief, clouds are your best friends.

High G-Turn: Talk about high risk, big pay moves. Players can perform a G-Turn by holding down both triggers and then tilting the left stick to whatever direction they want to turn in. This is a perfect for dogfighting but for other cases, it will drastically reduce your speed and the aircraft may crash.
