Bugbear Games’ self explanatorily titled next car game, Next Car Game, just got a new update released for it on Steam Early Access, which adds some things that are as imaginatively named as the game itself- a new figure 8 track called the Figure 8 Track, as well as an American sedan car, called the American Sedan.

I love these guys’ sense of humor.

The newest update also includes a cinematic camera, which should help players trying to take some cool screenshots of the game; apparently, the community is already on it, taking some excellent, excellent screenshots and sharing them with each other. Honestly, with the amount of beautiful and glorious destruction in the game, I’d happily welcome this feature too.

Next Car Game is currently in Early Access on Steam; all players should have received the update for the game automatically, but just in case they did not, they should try to restart Steam to initiate the process.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news and updates.

And this is only over Steam Early Access.

Bugbear Games’ next car game, aptly titled Next Car Game, went live on Steam Early Access in mid January, and in just one week, it managed to make $1 million. To be clear, the game is only available over Early Access (and over the developer’s own website as an early build)- it hasn’t even had an official release yet.

The game- which was crowdfunded entirely (after a failed first attempt at crowdfunding it over Kickstarter) is also a demonstration of the incredible technology that powers it, that lets the developers show off variable and dynamic damage models for all vehicles in the game, which creates an immersive destruction derby experience for players.

For those not in the know, the game is a game with an emphasis on car destruction, in the vein of classic franchises like Destruction Derby, Carmageddon, or even Burnout- except the emphasis on damage is backed by an incredible damage model as well.

Bugbear Entertainment Reveals How Damage Modeling Works In Next Car Game

Soft body damage modeling makes a world of difference.

Bugbear Entertainment’s upcoming racing game, Next Car Game (yes, that is what it is called) has been garnering a fair bit of attention since its initial reveal some time ago. Now, the developer has taken it upon themselves to explain how the game’s damage modeling, which seems to be one of the features hyped the most about the game, works.

The game uses soft body deformation for its car damage, instead of rigid model damage; the same model, the developers were careful to point out, as 2012’s excellent Ridge Racer Unbound. What this means is that when you hit a car with something or the other way around, the car is going to have the right sized and shaped dent exactly where it was damaged, as opposed to pre-programmed damage visuals.

What this means is, then, that you will see a real deformable damage system in the game that reflects your car being abused the way it has actually been abused instead of pre-programmed, pre-determined damage models. It’s a small, subtle change, but one that can make a world of a difference to your immersion.
