The 88-page graphic novel (produced with Dark Horse Comics) releases on October 22nd in bookstores and October 23rd in comic shops.

After teasing a Returnal-related announcement for today, Housemarque has announced a graphic novel for its rogue-like third-person shooter – Returnal: Fallen Asteria. It’s out on October 22nd on bookstore shelves and October 23rd in comic shops. An animated video of the first issue is available, providing a peek at the graphical novel. Check it out below.

Returnal: Fallen Asteria spans 88 pages and is produced with Dark Horse Comics. As the animated video showcases, the first issue is about Selene’s arrival on Atropos, pursuing the mysterious White Shadow and revisiting her memories. After traversing the planet’s surface, she slowly realizes how things change with each cycle. Whether subsequent issues will be animated is unknown.

Stay tuned for more details on Returnal: Fallen Asteria in the coming months. The game is available for PS5 and PC (check out our review) and has received several updates thus far. The latest is Ascension, which added the Tower of Sisyphus and co-op support, allowing two players to tackle Atropos together.

The nearly 500-page-long book will feature lore and images for the series (including Halo Infinite). Pre-order details coming "very soon."

With Halo Infinite out this year, 343 Industries and Dark Horse Comics are teaming up to release a new Halo Encyclopedia. Written by Jeff Easterling, Jeremy Patenaude and Kenneth Peters, it will release on March 29th 2022 and include about 500 pages of information on the franchise.

Estimated to be around 25 percent bigger than the last edition, the Halo Encyclopedia includes lore; images from the franchise’s various books, games and media; and game assets which are “fresh and newly captured.” There will be a “few cool things” introduced with the encyclopedia and you can also expect some details on Halo Infinite. Perhaps because it may contain spoilers for the game, it’s coming later so that fans can go in blind.

Pre-order details for the Halo Encyclopedia will be “coming very soon” so stay tuned. As for Halo Infinite, it’s currently slated to release this holiday season for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Flighting for its multiplayer technical preview is expected to begin this Summer though 343 Industries noted earlier this month that it was still evaluating the build.

Art book's accompanying lithograph could also hint at an in-game sequence.

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 has yet to receive any new details in the past month or so but luckily, there is some new art to glean. An art book called “The Art of the Last of Us Part 2“, which Naughty Dog has worked on in collaboration with Dark Horse Books, has appeared on Amazon. The Deluxe Edition is most interesting since it features a hardcover of Ellie hiding behind a tree, machete in hand, from cult members.

The slipcase is more peaceful, showcasing Ellie sitting against a tree with guitar in hand. There’s even more to see in the lithograph as Ellie and Dina are on horseback, evading the Infected while shooting them with arrows. Perhaps a hint to one of the in-game sequences?

The Deluxe Edition art book retails for $89.99 and features 200 pages of original art along with developer commentary. The Last of Us Part 2 is slated to release on May 29th for PS4. Stay tuned for more details on it in the coming months. It might even make an appearance at the rumored PlayStation 5 reveal event in February.

Something that is much appreciated for a game like this!

Sea of Thieves is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and fresh looking Xbox One games on the horizon. The game seems to exude the same kind of charm and charisma that characterized older Rare games, and it seems like it will be an unusual multiplayer shared world game that is for players of all ages.

It is also a gorgeous game- it is using some great tech, and it is also marked by having a pretty great art style. And now, if you want to see more of that art, the good news is, publisher Dark Horse Comics will be bringing The Art of Sea of Thieves, an art book which will provide hundreds of pieces of artwork, concept art, sketches, and more, all from the development of the game, out early next year.

As of right now, no price or release date are announced- but we can probably expect it to be priced similarly to other art books. Sea of Thieves itself, meanwhile, is due out early next year on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

Described as an indispensable companion to the games.

CD Projekt RED and Dark Horse Comics have already collaborated on The Witcher before, bringing us a series of five excellent graphic novels based on The Witcher (set in between the second and third games and bridging the gap to the third game, as a matter of fact), and now it looks like they will be returning to their partnership yet again. You see, the two companies are teaming up to bring us The World of The Witcher, a companion to The Witcher games.

“The World of The Witcher is really unique, as it’s the first successful attempt at creating such a comprehensive compendium about the Witcher series of games and beyond,” said Rafał Jaki, Franchise Director, CD PROJEKT RED. “I’m sure gamers and fans of the universe will have tons of fun reading it,” added Jaki.

“Dark Horse is very enthusiastic about expanding our collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED with The World of The Witcher. This book is a perfect way for fans to take a deep dive into the vast and compelling lore RED has created with The Witcher franchise, whether they are longtime followers of the games and novels or are being introduced to this world for the first time,” said Nick McWhorter, VP of licensing, Dark Horse Comics.

The World of The Witcher should be available at all leading bookstores. Stay tuned for more information.

Now this is pretty cool. Dark Horse Books and Nintendo are teaming up to bring us The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia. If you’ve ever lost track of the various events, happenings and Hyrules of the Zelda universe, this is an invaluable resource.

Bound in a hardcover, it contains never-before-seen concept art, the history of Hyrule, a timeline depicting the chronology of each game – all topped off with an introduction by Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

Wait, this book actually tells us which Zelda game came first? If that doesn’t say “must-buy”, what does?

But wait, it gets even better. To further cement it’s awesomeness, the Zelda: Link to the Past comic, created by Zelda manga author Akira Himekawa, is also included in the Hyrule Hystoria. For some one who spotted this rare gem a good 18-20 years ago, this is a rare gift indeed.

The Hyrule Hystoria will go on sale in January 2013 for $34.99 USD.

Radical Entertainment, developers of the upcoming Prototype 2, and Dark Horse Comics, publisher of gaming comics and graphic novels, have joined forces to create an all-new comic series set in the Prototype universe, with the game due out April 24 and the coming launching on February 15, 2012.

The all-new digital comic series will be broken into three original stories that bridge the gap between the original game and the sequel. The first entry, “The Anchor,” continues the story of Alex Mercer, the protagonist from the first game, while the second story, “The Survivors,” follows a small group of residents of New York trying to escape the city after it has been transformed into NYZ with the outbreak of the Blacklight virus. The third and final story, “The Labyrinth,” provides fans a deeper look into the backstory of Prototype 2’s new protagonist, Sgt. James Heller. Each comic in the series will be available at here every other week beginning February 15, 2012.

“We’re always looking for meaningful ways to expand the PROTOTYPE universe, and Dark Horse Comics is an industry-leading creative powerhouse delivering best-in-class graphic storytelling that integrates deeply to the core of our IP,” said Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment. “With this partnership, our fans will finally be given answers to some dramatic loose ends from the first PROTOTYPE game, as well as the truth behind Alex Mercer’s descent and evolution into a twisted shadow of his former self for PROTOTYPE 2.”

“Sgt. James Heller’s heart wrenching backstory meshed with the sheer amount of over-the-top shape-shifting action in PROTOTYPE 2 lend themselves perfectly to a comic book series,” said Dave Marshall, Editor, Dark Horse Comics. “We worked extremely close with Radical Entertainment’s story team for PROTOTYPE 2, and can’t wait to visually walk fans through the many dark secrets strewn throughout the tattered world of New York Zero!”
