With Sony skipping E3 once again this year, there’s been a lot of talk of when they will be officially unveiling the PS5 in full. Most leaks and rumours over the past few months have pointed to a reveal event for the console in February, similar to what they did with the PS4 back in 2013, and this latest development might be hinting at that as well.
That development is that Sony has officially filed for a PlayStation 5 trademark in Europe at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IGE IPI). While this might very well be circumstantial, filing for a trademark for the console might also suggest that Sony is gearing up to kick marketing for next-gen into gear.
A recent leak suggested that February would see Sony holding a PS5 reveal event, where they would show the console, talk about its price, and also talk about various third party and first party games coming to the system, including some that it will be launching with. Meanwhile, Sony are also kicking off a celebration event at Sony Square NYC called Experience PlayStation, with some suggesting that it could end with a PS5 reveal on February 16th.
