A new update has also been released today which adds the Revive mechanic along with other changes.

H1Z1 had entered open beta for the PS4 back in May and it had around 4.5 million players at the end of that month. Now, the game has surpassed 10 million players on the console and an infographic has been released which provides statistics about all sorts of things related to the game. Also, the game is getting a new update today which will bring along some changes.

Over 11,676 years of gaming has been spent on the game in total so far. There have been 167 million kills so far with over 16 million headhshots! The most kills have been performed with the Riot Shotgun and Hellfire weapons, both are tied at 25% each. As for throwables, the Frag Grenade is responsible for 48% of the kills. Players who downloaded the game on PS4 before June 27 will receive a Sunrise Parachute in-game skin and a Darkfire Pickup Truck for free.

The new update for the game adds the Revive mechanic which will allow players to revive teammates in Duos and Fives. Other changes include a new weapon, the Airstrike Signal Weapon. H1Z1 is currently available for the PC and the open beta is ongoing for the PS4.

PUBG and Fortnite may rule the roost now, but the original battle royale game, the progenitor of the genre that stated it all, was H1Z1: King of the Hill. Developed by Daybreak Entertainment (formerly Sony Online Entertainment), the game was announced to be coming to the PS4 long ago. Now, it has been confirmed it will be coming to the console again, with an open beta for the game commencing on May 22, so everyone can check it out.

The PS4 port will include console-optimized controls, all the content for the PC version so far, unique in game cosmetic items, and will run at 60 frames per second on PS4 Pro- all of which is awesome. You can check out trailer for the PS4 version of the game for yourself below.

H1Z1 is a free to play game, and you can already get it on the PC via Steam right now, in case you don’t want to wait for the PS4 version.

An interesting spin on an existing mode.

H1Z1: King of the Hill will be adding a brand new Ignition Mode, developer Daybreak Entertainment announced today. The new mode resembles Battle Royale the most, but it comes with its own unique twist- Ignition starts each challenger off with their very own ATV and a pack of explosives strapped to their body. Players get a limited amount of time to scavenge weapons and supplies, and then make a beeline for a Safe Zone, because those that don’t will find their devices triggered, knocking them out of the match.

To keep things exciting, Safe Areas decrease in number and size, and change locations around the map- the time allowed for players to reach a safe zone also is reduced, meaning the match gets more and more frenetic the farther into it you go.

H1Z1: King of the Hill is available now for Windows PCs via Steam Early Access. It will be getting an official release on PC later in the year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

The zombie survival MMO H1Z1 is all set to launch as not one, but two separate games– a multiplayer shooter, H1Z1: King of The Kill, which is slated for PC via Steam Early Access, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; and an open world zombie survival game, H1Z1: Just Survive, which will launch on Steam Early Access only.

Today, Daybreak shared new trailers for both of these games, which you can see for yourself below. Personally, King of the Hill holds absolutely no allure for me- multiplayer shooters are dime a dozen. Just Survive seems to be more along the lines of what H1Z1 was originally going to be, so that’s the one that has piqued my interest.

H1Z1: King of the Hill is set to launch this Summer; Just Survive doesn’t have a final release date yet. You can see both the trailers for yourself below. Let us know what you think in the comments section.

"King of the Hill" and "Just Survive" will now be two separate entities.

We’ve been waiting for some big news about H1Z1 for a little while now and on Friday, developer Daybreak Entertainment announced the title was actually going to be made into two separate games. One title will be called H1Z1: King of the Kill and will be a ” large-scale, high-intensity multiplayer shooter comprised of a variety of new fight-to-the-death game modes, including fan-favorite PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Battle Royale.” This particular game is going to released later this summer on consoles and the PC.

On the other hand, H1Z1: Just Survive will take on the survival aspect of the original game and attempt to take it to a whole other level. The developer put out a statement alongside the announcement the games are being split. “Since its release last year on Steam Early Access, we’ve had more than 2.5 million downloads of H1Z1 and rank as the number four top selling game on Steam of 2015 releases,” said Laura Naviaux, Chief Publishing Officer of Daybreak Games.

“We launched H1Z1 as an Early Access title to allow the player community to help shape our development. Over the course of development, we discovered it had evolved into two unique gaming experiences, appealing to two distinct communities. Fostering lasting communities is the bedrock of our organization, and by allowing these worlds to exist independently and grow in their own distinguished ways, we can better deliver on a consistent vision and clear roadmap for each game toward official release and beyond.”

Along with the announcement, Daybreak Entertainment said both titles will release on early access on February 17, 2016. Both versions will cost $19.99 a piece but the company said those who purchased the single version before that release date will get the separated version free of charge.

'More news on the PS4 version coming soon!'

The PS4 version of the zombie survival MMO, H1Z1, is still a thing- and we will be getting new details on it soon, executive producer Chris Wyn has confirmed.

H1Z1 is currently out on PC; it is one of the numerous DayZ clones that sprung up in response to the mod’s unexpected success, and even though it had a bumpy launch, it has seen a fair measure of success since then. The PS4 version was announced back when Daybreak Entertainment was still Sony Online Entertainment. However, the sale of SOE, and the subsequent radio silence on the PS4 version led many to speculate that the PS4 version may have been canceled silently.

“Thanks everyone for the kind words. Everyone is asking about a PS4 [of H1Z1] version, news on that coming soon!” Wyn promised on Twitter.

How Daybreak manage to adapt the PC game to the PS4 remains to be seen. Also what remains to be seen is whether the game will now come to the Xbox One as well, since Daybreak is no longer Sony owned, and since they have expressed an interest in bringing their games over to the Xbox One previously as well.

Lizard Squad at it again.

Daybreak Studios has been suffering the worst of these DDoS attacks that hacker groups such as the Lixard Squad keep initiating recently, and now, it seems like their servers are under fire once again. Lizard Squad, the notorious hacking group, is claiming responsibility for DDoS attacks on game servers for Planetside 2, Everquest, H1Z1, and more.

Daybreak has been suffering from these attacks since last year, back when the studio was still called Sony Online Entertainment; last week, one of the perpetrators of those attacks was convicted, but managed to avoid jailtime, prompting Daybreak CEO John Smedley to claim that he would be ‘going after him.’

To be fair, Smedley’s sentiments were well justified- the regular DDoS attacks would be reason enough for him to feel that way, but the problems go beyond just that. For instance, this was the hacker who issued a bomb thread against Smedley’s flight, and had it grounded.

Unfortunately, Smedley’s remarks are what seem to have caused the current round of DDoS attacks on Lizard Squad servers. Smedley took to Twitter to confirm that the issue was being looked into.

Hopefully they get things running again.

'There are consequences to cheating.'

Earlier this week, we reported of a massive ban wave for Daybreak’s massively multiplayer zombie action game, H1Z1, which took out a multitude of users who had been caught cheating. Today, it seems like Daybreak, who were publicly contemptuous of cheaters before, have softened their stance somewhat, but only somewhat- they have agreed to let some cheaters back into the game, with one stipulation- they apologize, publicly, for their actions in a public YouTube video, and forward the link on to Daybreak president John Smedley.

“Dear Cheaters who got banned. Many of you are emailing me, apologizing and admitting it. Thank you. However.. You’re doing it wrong,” Smedley said on his Twitter account. “If you want us to even consider your apology a public YouTube apology is necessary. No personal information please. Email me the link, and I will tweet it.” He also added that the apology needs to be directed at other players, and not to Daybreak itself.

Explaining the rationale of this on a forum where he isn’t limited to 140 characters at a time, Smedley said on Reddit, “So far we’ve unbanned three people out of 30k we’ve now banned. One of which is probably about to get re-banned for taking his video private.

“I want to make sure it’s clear there are consequences for cheating. You don’t just get to make a video and get unbanned. This is a very limited time thing to try and raise awareness of what’s actually going on. You may say ‘hey there clearly aren’t consequences if you are unbanning people’. Let’s get back to the part where I said we’ve unbanned three people. If these videos go far and wide and it elevates the importance of getting rid of the cheaters in PC gaming, I feel it’s an excellent trade.”

Well, I mean… that’s one way to deal with things, I suppose.

If you are one of the affected cheaters, you have until noon PST tomorrow to get things going. Make sure to have your video listed as Public, and kept that way.
