The final Diablo 3 season to feature new content aims to bring proper support for single-player plays of the Season Journey.

Blizzard has announced its plans for the final season for Diablo 3 to get new content. Describing Season 29 through a post on the official website, the studio has revealed that Diablo 3 will be getting many new features, including support for true single-player play through the new Solo Self Found mode.

Solo Self Found mode essentially makes it so that players won’t get any bonuses from playing as part of a party in Diablo 3. The mode also doesn’t allow for trading between players, and revolves entirely around playing through the season solo. The mode will feature its own leaderboard for regular, as well as hardcore players.

The other headlining feature of Diablo 3: Season 29 is the addition of Visions of Enmity, which creates Diabolical Fissures around the world. Stepping through these fissures will send players to pocket dimensions containing enemies, as well as new rewards. Fissures are also unstable, and could potentially produce additional fissures within them once a certain number of enemies are killed.

Diabolical Fissures will feature enemies with three affixes: Enervating, Necrotic, and Resource Leech. Enevervating mobs have an area around them reducing the player’s movement speed and cooldown reduction. Necrotic reduces player healing, and Resource Leech reduces a player’s resource when hit by enemies.

Diablo 3: Season 29 will be getting a host of other features, including a new cap of 800 Paragon Points for season characters, as well as a host of other changes for the sake of gameplay balance. The season is currently available to play through Diablo 3‘s PTR until August 29, and will be making its way on to the game’s main servers down the line.

These are some of the best games that you should really sink your teeth into for hours upon hours on end.

Everybody loves a good game that they can really sink their teeth into, and a compelling endgame section is required for such games to succeed. To that end, here are 15 of the best games that have the most engaging endgame content:

God of War: Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok is a bombastic experience that starts out strong, and never lets off until the very end. While the campaign itself has a lot to see and do, the endgame has a lot to love as well. The nine realms are home to plenty of tough encounters that you can try to best along with Muspelhiem which houses plenty of combat challenges as well. Furthermore, there are plenty of lore-related side quests that you can pursue after the credits roll – and many of them are unmissable for any fan of the series. And did we mention the Berserker boss fights? Well, best of luck beating them!

The latest season adds new consumables for Sanctifying one's Legendary gear, which adds one of three new powers for each class.

Season 27 of Diablo 3, Light’s Calling, is available across all platforms. It introduces Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable that allows for Sanctifying any equippable Legendary items. The item is then reforged to Ancient-level and gains one of three new powers depending on one’s class. Both Angelic Crucibles and Sanctified Legendaries are only available in seasonal play.

Only one Sanctified item can be equipped, though players can store multiple. Level 70 items are the only ones that can be Sanctified (with crafted items being a no-no). Since Patch 2.7.4’s PTR, Blizzard has doubled the drop rates of Angelic Crucibles, so there should be more chances for sanctifying.

Some new powers include the Demon Hunter’s Strafe now casting the last non-channeled Hatred spending ability cast, and the Necromancer’s Golem storing up to 30 corpses, which are used for corpse-spending abilities, and much more. This is in addition to various item and balance changes. Also, good news for new and returning players: Adventure Mode is unlocked on all accounts by default, so you no longer need to play the Campaign to access it.

Check out some of the patch notes below and the full patch notes here.

Patch Notes

Season 27 introduces a new type of consumable item called Angelic Crucibles. Once uncovered by Nephalem, these heavenly artifacts can be used to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item. Sanctifying an item reforges it to have perfect Ancient-level stats on all affixes while also preserving the item’s Legendary Power. In addition, this process adds one of three new powers unique to each class.

Season Theme Details:

Angelic Crucibles and Sanctified items can only be acquired in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends.

Angelic Crucibles can drop anywhere in Sanctuary at level 70.

Players can obtain as many Sanctified items as they would like, however, only one Sanctified item can be equipped at a time.

Sanctified items can be Sanctified again using another Angelic Crucible.

No stats are preserved when Sanctifying an item.

Only level 70 equippable items can be Sanctified—crafted items cannot be Sanctified.

Followers cannot equip Sanctified items.

The drop rate of Angelic Crucibles has been doubled.

Developer’s Note: We heard your feedback regarding the Angelic Crucible drop rate. . . then we doubled it.

New Class-Specific Sanctified Powers

Barbarian

Whirlwind pulls in and holds all enemies within 25 yards.

Hammer of the Ancients hits in all directions around the Barbarian. Every tenth cast of Hammer of the Ancients unleashes a powerful shockwave.

The shockwave now deals 10x damage.

Hitting enemies generates stacks of Tempest Rhythm. Activating Wrath of the Berserker consumes 50 stacks of Tempest Rhythm and startles enemies within 16 yards, causing them to take 2% increased damage per stack for 20 seconds. Max 50 stacks.

Crusader

Blessed Hammer now crackles with energy, damaging enemies within 15 yards of its path. All runes but Dominion now throw the hammer in a direct path in front of the Crusader.

Fixed a bug that caused Blessed Hammer to stop when hitting allies.

Every two seconds, call down Fist of the Heavens on a random nearby enemy. After casting Steed Charge, this effect occurs more rapidly for five seconds.

Updated the visual effects of the Fist of the Heavens Sanctified power to differentiate it from Fist of the Heavens cast by players.

After casting Falling Sword, you descend from the sky with two Archangels that can cast Consecration and Condemn.

Updated the Archangels abilities to not benefit from bonuses and removed the Heaven’s Fury skill.

Archangels no longer take damage.

Removed the cooldown to spawn Archangels when casting Falling Sword. A maximum of two Archangels can be present at a time.

The damage done by Archangels has been reduced.

The Archangels will no longer cast Condemn and Consecration immediately upon being summoned.

The Archangels damage has been reduced 33% of its previous value.

Demon Hunter

Strafe now casts the last non-channeled Hatred spending ability cast.

Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the Strafe sanctified power to stop casting the Hatred spending ability.

Fixed a bug that caused the Multishot visual effects to fire in the wrong direction.

Casting Vengeance unleashes a barrage of rockets that deal damage equal to a percentage of the maximum life enemies possess. The number of rockets fired increases over 30 seconds. Elites and Bosses receive less damage per rocket.

Fixed a bug in the tooltip to correctly state that damage is equal to a percentage of maximum life, not current life.

Firing Cluster Arrow no longer drops explosive ordinance. Instead, it concentrates its explosive force into piercing rays of light.

Updated the Cluster Arrow tooltip to clarify the power and potential interactions with other skills.

Adjusted the animation to feel more fluid.

Updated the Cluster Arrow visual effects and sounds.

Fixed a bug that prevented Cluster Arrow from proccing Restraint and Thrill of the Hunt.

Fixed a bug where Cluster Arrow didn’t properly cost 40 Hatred.

Monk

Casting Wave of Light now summons a bell at the target location that deals damage when any player attacks the bell. Up to five bells can be active at one time.

The Shattering Light rune now respects which way you’re facing when you strike the bell, and your bells can no longer proc your own bells.

Updated the tooltip to reflect that other players can attack summoned bells.

Added sounds to the Wave of Light Sanctified power.

Bells no longer count as kills to other players.

Bells now despawn if not destroyed within 10 seconds.

All Way of the Hundred Fists combo punches use the second stage combo punch. Consecutive hits from Way of the Hundred Fists increases its damage by 2%. Max 350 stacks.

The target of your Seven-Sided Strike is barraged with spiritual punches for 15 seconds. This can only affect one enemy at a time.

Necromancer

Your Golem now picks up corpses within 20 yards. Each corpse it stores allows you to cast any corpse spending ability with the max number of corpses consumed per cast. Up to 30 corpses can be stored.

Updated the tooltip to clarify which Corpse skills are impacted by the Sanctified power.

Enemies within 50 yards are constantly assaulted by the Army of the Dead – Unconventional Warfare while this item is equipped.

Fixed a bug that caused an unintended interaction with Fate’s Vow and the Army of the Dead Sanctified power.

Hitting enemies with Death Nova five consecutive times adds a spirit that afflicts an enemy every fifth cast of Death Nova. Up to three spirits can be sent at a time.

Witch Doctor

Enemies affected by Locust Swarm are also Haunted. When you cast Piranhas, all Haunted enemies within 60 yards are pulled into the pool. A lesser enemy stunned by Bogadile is instantly killed. Elites and Bosses stunned by Bogadile take massive damage.

Added a visual effect to indicate the area where monsters are pulled in by Piranhas.

Horrify becomes an aura that causes enemies to receive 100% more damage and deal 15% less damage in addition to its other effects.

You summon two Gargantuans and three Zombie Dogs periodically. Gargantuans gain the effect of the Restless Giant rune. Zombie Dogs gain the effect of all runes. Enemies hit by Sacrifice are Immolated, causing them to take 100% more damage from your Pets.

Wizard

Your Storm Armor charges over 30 seconds. Casting Storm Armor at full charge releases a powerful thunderbolt, instantly killing a random enemy within 30 yards. Bosses and Elites are not killed but take significant damage.

Arcane Orb now periodically spawns up to four orbiting charges that will generate an additional orb when cast. All charges from the Arcane Orbit rune now detonate at the same time.

Magic Missile fires 10 missiles and gains the effect of the Seeker rune.
Reduced the number of Magic Missiles from 20 to 10.

Developer’s Note: With the Lords of Hell Season, we explored what Nephalem would do if they possessed the powers of Hell. This season we invite players to witness what Nephalem can accomplish with the powers of Heaven. Our goal with the 21 unique class-powers was to introduce changes to skills that can redefine the way you play a build or set. We’re excited to see how players will harness the powers of Heaven in Season 27.

General Updates

Adventure Mode is now unlocked for all accounts by default. Players are no longer required to complete the Campaign to access Adventure mode.

Default difficulty selection has been updated to be consistent for all players and platforms. All players now have access to Normal-Torment 6 difficulties by default, and upon reaching level 70 with a character, players gain access to Torment 7–Torment 16.

Uber Boss Realms now automatically close 60 seconds after the Uber Bosses have been defeated.

Additional portals to the same Uber Boss Realm can now be opened in a single game session.

The Experience rewarded upon completion of an Echoing Nightmare has been reduced by 83%.

Developer’s Note: With Echoing Nightmares transitioning from a Seasonal theme to a permanent feature moving forward, we felt it was necessary to dial back the Experience rewards to avoid players feeling obligated to maximize their time spent inside the activity. Our vision for Echoing Nightmares is to be a fun bonus activity, like the Vault, that serves as a good source of loot and Augment materials. We’ve also made several changes to Adventure mode and difficulty unlocks—these will align the Diablo III experience across all platforms for new players and should make it easier to jump into your preferred activity. Lastly, we improved the Uber Boss flow so that players and groups can kill multiple rounds of bosses without having to remake games.

Angelic Crucibles are the new mechanic, which can Sanctify any Legendary item.

Your Gargantuan spreads Locusts Swarm to any enemy within 16 yards and summons Zombie Dogs periodically. Zombie Dogs now gain every rune when summoned.

Wizard

Casting Storm Armor sends a power thunderbolt from the skies that instantly kills a random enemy within 30 yards. Bosses and Elites are not killed but take significant damage. This effect cannot occur more than once every 60 seconds.

Arcane Orb now periodically spawns up to four orbiting charges that will generate an additional orb when cast. All charges from the Arcane Orbit rune now detonate at the same time.

Magic Missile fires 20 missiles and gains the effect of the Seeker rune.

Blizzard's Rod Fergusson says this will be "our first major content update." Details on Diablo 3's Season 27 are also coming later this week.

Diablo Immortal’s first post-launch update is live on mobiles and PC, and many have noted that it’s kind of…sparse. There’s the Season 2 Battle Pass, a new Helliquary Raid Boss and an upcoming limited-time event but not much else. According to Diablo franchise GM Rod Fergusson on Twitter, this is only the first update coming this month.

“Also, worth noting – there will be two Diablo Immortal updates in July. This first one will be mainly a Battle Pass update that also includes some small changes and bug fixes, the second update scheduled for later in July will be our first major content update.” What the second update could offer remains to be seen. It’s confirmed to add Class Change along with “other new content” so we’ll need to wait for more details.

Diablo 3 players can also look forward to Season 27, which is getting some new details later this week. Perhaps we’ll learn more about how the Echoing Nightmare is being implemented into the base game following its introduction in Season 26.

As for Diablo Immortal, it’s seen over 10 million installs in its first week with revenue reportedly crossing $24 million in just two weeks. There’s been some heavy backlash against its monetization, though. For more details on the game, check out our review of the PC version here.

Double Bounties are also live till the end of Season 26 while the Echoing Nightmare will become a permanent fixture of the game.

For how terribly it started out, Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 3 has seen some remarkable redemption in its lifetime. In celebration of the title’s 10th anniversary, the development team confirmed that the action RPG has had over 65 million players worldwide since launch. It also announced that the Echoing Nightmare, which was introduced when Season 26 started, will become a permanent feature of the game.

This is essentially an optional end-game activity where players must battle progressively harder foes for loot. Gaining access to an Echoing Nightmare requires defeating Rift Guardians for Petrified Screams and the difficulty scales as more monsters are defeated. Upon its completion, one receives EXP, Blood Shards, Gems and the Whisper of Atonement Legendary Gem for augmenting Ancient Legendary items.

Double Bounties are also live until the end of Season 26 with players receiving double Horadric Caches after finishing five Bounties in an Act. While drop rates remain the same, this means more chances to obtain Bounty-exclusive Legendary loot.

Diablo 3 is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Season 26 starts on April 15th and features the new Echoing Nightmare end-game activity along with updates to Greater Rifts.

Diablo 4 has been pushed back but Blizzard Entertainment still continues to support Diablo 3. Season 26: The Fall of the Nephalem goes live on April 15th and offers new features like the Echoing Nightmare. Update 2.7.3 is currently live to download and along with these changes, it also brings true 4K to the game when it runs on Xbox Series X.

Previously, it was locked to 1080p resolution on Xbox Series X, which was strange considering that the Xbox One X could upscale to 4K. The issue is now fixed so it’s possible to enjoy defeating the demons of Hell in glorious 4K.

As for Season 26’s content, it involves collecting Petrified Screams upon defeating Greater Rift Guardians. It provides entry into the Echoing Nightmare which becomes progressively more difficult as more enemies are defeated. You’ll gain a number of rewards though from EXP and Legendaries to Blood Shards and Gems including the new Legendary Gem, Whisper of Atonement.

Check out some of the patch notes below. Diablo 3 is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Season 26 | The Fall of the Nephalem | Patch 2.7.3

Seasons

Season 26 introduces the Echoing Nightmare, an optional and rewarding end-game challenge where players fight within the memories of Nephalem who fell in a Greater Rift. Today’s Nephalem must stand their ground until they are inevitably Overwhelmed or defeated. Players must collect a Petrified Scream from defeated Greater Rift Guardians to gain entry to the Echoing Nightmare. Transmuting a Petrified Scream in Kanai’s Cube summons a portal that players can enter to face the horrors of the Nephalem’s past.

Season Theme Details:

Petrified Screams and the Echoing Nightmare can only be accessed with seasonal characters.

Only one player is required to transmute a Petrified Scream to open an Echoing Nightmare in a multiplayer game.

Similar to a boss encounter, all players in a multiplayer game must accept a prompt to enter.

While within an Echoing Nightmare, the difficulty scales as players progress in the encounter. Players can progress faster by defeating monsters quickly.

Players receive the following rewards upon completing an Echoing Nightmare: EXP, Legendary Items, Blood Shards, Gems, and a new Legendary Gem, Whisper of Atonement.

The Whisper of Atonement is a Legendary Gem used exclusively for Augmenting Ancient Legendary items. It drops pre-ranked based upon the player’s performance in the Echoing Nightmare.

Rare monsters now spawn within an Echoing Nightmare.

Meteors now fall from the sky.

Hellish Machinations now appear, which spawn streams of Exploding Lunatics.

Rift Guardians now spawn.

Increased the frequency of which monsters spawn.

Updated the Shadow Clone explosion to better reflect the area of effect.

The exit timer has been increased to 60 seconds.

Increased the possible rank a Whisper of Atonement can drop to 125 based on the Tier completed.

Monsters in Echoing Nightmares can no longer be Frozen, Stunned, Rooted or Knocked Back.

Fixed a bug that caused Conduit Shrines to deal less damage than intended.

New Updates (Post-PTR)

Monsters from the Echoing Nightmares no longer drop gold, items or health globes.

Adjusted the damage done by Exploding Lunatics and Meteors to be more deadly.

Adjusted the difficulty of Tiers 100+.

Replaced the Shield Pylon with a Speed Pylon.

Adjusted the EXP rewarded by Echoing Nightmares to be aligned with Greater Rift turn-in rewards.

Reduced the Echoing Nightmare closing timer to 30 seconds.

Prevented Echoing Nightmares from being opened in games lower than level 70.

Adjusted the drop rate of Petrified Screams from Greater Rift Guardians.

Greater Rift Updates

We reviewed all of the maps and monsters that appear in Greater Rifts and reworked the probabilities overall to make sure players spend more time with the content they enjoy. Less spaghetti and more chickens!

Orek’s Dream: Greater Rifts have a small chance to roll as Orek’s Dream. These dreamlike rifts have a curated list of maps and monster compositions.

3 maps have been added and 2 maps have been removed from the Greater Rift pool.

Added: Fields of Misery, Desolate Sands and Briarthorn Cemetery

– Blazing Guardians
– Smoldering Guardians
– Frost Guardian
– Noxious Guardian
– Shock Guardian
– Blood Clan Spearman
– Dark Moon Clan Impaler
– Moon Clan Impaler
– Blood Clan Impaler
– Ice Clan Impaler
– Hell Witch
– Vile Temptress

Players can speak to Orek to close an active Greater Rift. This option is only available when in a single player game.

Further increased the progression granted by some monsters in Greater Rifts.

Updated visual effects upon entering an Orek’s Dream.

Updated the Orek’s Dream vignette to be more pronounced.

Whether it's real-time hack and slash action, looter shooters or big budget open world titles, these action RPGs are the creme of the crop.

Ever since the release of Dragon Slayer in 1984, the action RPG genre has grown by leaps and bounds throughout the decades. Various sub-genres and franchises have been born, each presenting their own compelling combat loops and gameplay systems. Let’s take a look at 30 of the best action RPGs of all time.

Dark Souls Remastered

More than a decade after its original release, it’s still impressive how much Dark Souls has influenced gaming. Dark Souls Remastered is a fairly straightforward enhanced edition, providing a 60 FPS frame rate, higher resolutions, and improved lighting and alpha effects among other minor improvements. But the core of the title, from the excellent pacing and pitch-perfect design, the madness of levels like Sen’s Fortress and Blighttown, and the wonder upon finding Anor Londo remain to this day, as does the solid combat and boss design.

Over the years, PvE games have risen in popularity with players, either solo or in co-op, tackling various AI threats. There’s a good amount of freedom available in how you play and progress. Let’s take a look at 15 of the best PvE titles available right now.

Final Fantasy 14

Regarded as one of the best MMOs, Final Fantasy 14’s approach is more story-oriented than something like World of Warcraft and can be very much enjoyed as a solo experience. As the Warrior of Light, you venture through Eorzea, battling the Beast Tribes, the Garlean Empire and the Primals while various schemes play out across its nations. Whether you’re focusing on the Main Scenario, indulging in side quests, mastering each Job, partaking in raids and dungeons, or simply completing events, Final Fantasy 14 is full of stuff to do. Just make sure to stick with it past the base game – the story improves by leaps and bounds afterwards.

No matter how many times they fell, these bosses kept coming back stronger.

No matter how many times a particular boss is beaten, they just can’t take a hint. Maybe they’ll pop up in the sequel as the true mastermind behind the scenes. Or perhaps they didn’t really die in the previous battle and are now back for more. Only one thing is guaranteed and that’s how they’ll never truly be defeated. Let’s take a look at such bosses that fit into that category. Spoilers abound so beware.

Guardian Ape – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Immortality in Sekiro is a curse, something you learn firsthand when dealing with the Guardian Ape. It’s torturous enough with its grabs, slams and dung and you’d think things would end upon severing its head. However, the Guardian Ape resurrects and utilizes the sword embedded in its neck along with Terror to make the fight even more annoying. Stabbing its centipede ends the fight but won’t permanently kill the ape. Instead, when traveling to the Ashina Depths, you fight the Headless Ape again, only this time it receives some backup from its mate. Defeating it will result in the centipede taking a rest…until you come back with the Mortal Blade and kill it for good.
