The newest tales focus on Chinese Americans in US history.

Where The Water Tastes Like Wine, the narrative adventure title from Dim Bulb Games and Serenity Forge, didn’t do all that well financially. Nevertheless, it continues to receive updates. After free stories, auto-walking and even a free standalone companion game, the developers have released the Gold Mountain update.

Free for those who own the base game (which is currently 50 percent off on Steam), Gold Mountain adds some new tales. The twist is that these focus on Chinese Americans and their stories during the Depression-era of the United States. Full support for Chinese language has been added as well.

Other content included in the update is bug fixes, improved performance and controls, fixes for localization bugs and issues, and fixes to story locations. Overall, the new stories are worth checking out, even for those who never played the game before. As for what else will be added to the underrated narrative title, time will tell, so stay tuned.

Fireside Chats brings additional story content for the base game's cast, completely free.

Good Shepherd Entertainment’s Where The Water Tastes Like Wine was an intriguing tale, as players explored Depression-Era United States and collected stories. It didn’t set the sales charts on fire, but received a decent amount of post-launch support. That pales in comparison to the latest standalone companion experience, Where The Water Tastes Like Wine: Fireside Chats.

Serving exclusive content for all the stories from the base game’s characters, Fireside Chats also focuses on wandering the United States and meeting different people to hear their stories. It’s also free, and provides the Dire Wolf’s first chapter from the base game completely free as well. Considering the unique aesthetic and the fact that multiple writers are penning the tales, it might be worth a look.

In case the free chapter wasn’t enough, Where The Water Tastes Like Wine is available at a discount on Steam. It’s currently 35 percent off until November 19th. Despite the slow-paced nature of some stories, it might be worth your while solely based on the presentation and voice acting talent (including former Police front-man Sting).

Traveling becomes a little less annoying in the narrative title.

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, developed by Dim Bulb Games and Serenity Forge, kind of slipped under the radar when it released earlier this year. This is despite an unorthodox art-style and strong voice acting cast that included singer Sting. The developers have been busy improving the experience and have released a new “Tall Tales Update”.

Along with adding an autowalk option, which helps take strain off of continuously holding down the Forward key, it also contains some new stories to explore. New writers have gotten involved and players will find 15 new vignettes “ranging from the terrifying to the disgusting to the hilarious.” The overarching game has a good number of stories already included so this might be a good time to dive into the experience.

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is available on PC and has been labelled a commercial “disaster” by the development team. It’s still supporting the title, with features like an option to return to previous locations.

Collect stories, narrate them to different strangers and witness magic in this new adventure title.

Narrative adventure game Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is now available for PC via Steam. You probably know it as the game where famous musician Sting plays a Wolf. Yes, it’s that kind of game.

Taking place in Depression era United States, Where the Water Tastes Like Wine features an unorthodox art-style mixing illustrations with a 3D overworld map. The player essentially roams the United States and interacts with different strangers, collecting different stories and then re-telling them for new dialogue. Essentially, the player is looking to use different stories to satisfy the different characters they meets.

The stories themselves comprise of a wide range of tales written by different authors while the characters are voiced by talent like Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect), Dave Fennoy (Telltale’s The Walking Dead) and Elizabeth Maxwell (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) among others. The soundtrack is composed by Ryan Ike and promises a faithfully haunting rendition of the era.

Dim Bulb Games and Serenity Forge have offered an update on Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, its narrative game that traipses through America during the Depression. a new trailer showcases the voice-acting talent in-game and that includes Sting, former bassist and singer of The Police who is also an accomplished solo artist.

He’ll be voicing one of the game’s sixteen stories as “The Wolf”. It’s as cool as you’d think it sounds. Sting noted that he was happy to be involved and that the game was a “unique storytelling experience.” The trailer also highlighted other famous voice actors like Dave Fennoy (Telltale’s The Walking Dead), Cissy Jones (Firewatch) and Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect).

The game itself sees players traveling through America, breathing in the folklore and hearing stories from all kinds of folk. Visually, the game combines a 3D overworld map with gorgeous 2D illustrations. Where the Water Tastes Like Wine will be releasing in early 2018 for PC.

Fullbright may be busy working on Tacoma following the success of Gone Home but programmer Johnnemann Nordhagen is following a different path with Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. The trailer for the game debuted last night at The Game Awards and honestly deserves a look. Check it out below.

Nordhagen has formed his own studio Dim Bulb Games to create Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. There’s not much else known about the game at this time but details like a release date, mechanics and its platforms will be revealed next year. If Gone Home has taught us anything though it’s that Where the Water Tastes Like Wine won’t be your typical adventure.

What are your thoughts on the trailer and what could the tagline “Produce of U.S.A.” mean? We’ll find out next year but in the meantime, tell us what you think of the trailer in the comments below.
