The latest UK sales charts for the week ending December 1st are in, courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track, and FIFA 19 is still in the top spot. This is despite ample competition from Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which are in second and third place respectively. The football title has also seen a 39 percent drop in sales week-on-week.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Red Dead Redemption 2 sales were down 24 percent, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sales dropped by 64 percent. Overall spending in the UK during Black Friday week wasn’t too shabby, with more than one million physical games sold and £32.6 million generated in revenue. Battlefield 5 currently sits in fourth place, with sales having dropped 48 percent.

THQ Nordic’s Darksiders 3 debuted at 32nd place in the charts, selling 84 percent less than Darksiders 2 and more than 70 percent less than the first game. Nintendo’s Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! might have the most sales combined in the UK for the week ending November 17th. However, it was actually Activision’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy which was on top of sales charts. This is good news for the publisher once again- its last major remastered trilogy was Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and that went on to have a highly successful run on top.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fell to second place, but the most interesting developments surround Fallout 76 and Hitman 2. As per GamesIndustry.biz, Fallout 76 debuted in third place, with physical sales down 82.4 percent compared to its predecessor Fallout 4. However, thanks to the game’s $59.99 retail price, it was actually the highest revenue generating title in the UK retail for last week. Since Spyro Reignited Trilogy is priced at $39.99, it ranked third in revenue.

Hitman 2’s launch week physical sales were down 90 percent compared to Hitman Absolution, and it debuted in tenth place. Since Hitman (2016) debuted as a digital-only release, comparing its launch week sales to the sequel is thus difficult, since digital sales are not tracked by Gfk Chart-Track. This could mean Hitman 2’s low physical sales are offset by higher digital sales in the UK. We’ll have to wait for more sales data to know for sure.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Epic Games announced in a press release today that Fortnite: Battle Royale will get a retail release later this year. I’m sure you’re a bit confused, given that Fortnite: Battle Royale is, in fact, a free to play game. So how will this work?

Well, it’s pretty simple. Fortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle will cost $30, and include  the Frostbite Outfit, Cold Front Glider, Chill-Axe Pickaxe, Freezing Point Back Bling, and 1,000 V-Bucks (which are, coincidentally enough, exactly enough to buy yourself a Battle Pass). So basically, you’re paying 30 bucks for a lot of in-game stuff, plus what I imagine is a physical copy of the game. Simultaneously, this same bundle will also be available digitally on Xbox Live, PSN, and the Nintendo eShop for the same price, should you want it that way.

I suppose this is a way for Epic Games to get the game on store shelves going into the Holiday shopping season, so I see where they are coming from on this, but given that console bundles for this game already exist, and that it is free to play, I have to admit this is one of the weirder retail releases of popular digital games that I have seen yet.
