These games aren't the most accurate representation of Newton's laws but that's okay.

Preserving a sense of reality in games can be essential, especially when it comes to immersing your audience. However, the opposite also holds true as a game can break all laws of physics and still come across as a compelling experience. Let’s take a look at 15 such titles with inexplicable physics.

Goat Simulator

Explaining the sheer insanity that is Goat Simulator and it’s various add-ons would take too long. Playing fast and loose with physics is a given here, either due to numerous bugs or from the inanity of, say, a goat headbutting a gas station. There’s also that part where you do sick flips on a trampoline and lick a car to slingshot your goatly hide across the map. Need we say more?

Christmas may be past but PlayStation Plus is ringing in the new year with its next free offerings. Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator will be available free to PS Plus subscribers. They’ll be available from January 7th to February 3rd.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection alone provides fantastic value. It’s a remastered collection of the first three games – Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Remastered by Bluepoint Games, it’s the perfect introduction to the series and a collection of some of the best games ever made.

Goat Simulator is a different kind of revolutionary, as players control a goat in a world of awry physics. Stick your tongue on cars, bounce on trampolines and blow up gas stations. Why? Why not? As a jokey kind of game, Goat Simulator is great for killing a few hours. Check out the trailer below to see both titles in action.

Microsoft has announced four new games for its Xbox Game Pass service, two which are available right now. These are Capcom’s Resident Evil: Revelations and Rare Replay, the latter being a collection of 30 classic Rare games. You can download and play them right now if you’re currently subscribed to Xbox Game Pass (at $9.99 per month).

The other two games are inXile’s Torment: Tides of Numenera and Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator, which will be joining the service on June 27th. The former is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment and offers a surreal old-school RPG experience. Meanwhile, Goat Simulator lets you play as a goat, as the name implies, but things quickly take a weird turn.

Xbox Game Pass recently launched for PC, and Microsoft also introduced Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at E3 2019. The latter allows subscribers to get Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox One along with Xbox Live Gold for a month at $14.99. If you subscribe for the first month, it’s only $1.

Alpha begins in May for Coffee Stain's next release.

Coffee Stain Studios has long been associated with the Goat Simulator franchise which, as the name implies, is about playing as a goat. What started as an April Fool’s Day joke ultimately morphed into a full game and subsequent follow-ups. If you’ve been wondering whether the Sanctum developer has anything else up its sleeve, then Satisfactory may be the answer.

Revealed in a new teaser at GDC 2018, we see a small lizard-like creature on some alien planet eating some fruit/flower thing while construction goes on the background, off-camera. There’s not much to go off of here though it might have something to do with the “factory” part of Satisfactory’s name.

Coffee Stain is inviting players to sign up for Satifactory’s alpha which begins in May. It describes it as a “secret project – and with that comes extra prestige and risk! It’s a win-win!” It doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting many more details at this point. Regardless, head on over to the official site to sign up today.

Morpheus support?

Double Eleven announced on Wednesday that thanks to a collaboration with Coffee Stain Studios, the popular Goat Simulator is finally coming to the PS4 and PS3 on August 11. Since the game first launched on the PC it has been a surprise hit that allows players to do exactly what you would expect from a game that is called Goat Simulator. Of course, this isn’t just a game where you wander around a farm and eat whatever you can find.

Using this game, you can get yourself into all kinds of wacky adventures. On Sony’s official Morpheus page, Sony showed some of the features of the game, including the ability to either don a jetpack, or wrap your ridiculously long tongue around the bottom railing of a helicopter. The company also points out that you can blow stuff up, and then get up and walk away after you blow that stuff up. (Editor’s note: Yep.)

One neat feature unveiled for the PS4 and PS3 is that the game will have local multiplayer, which means up to four people on the PS4 (and two on the PS3) will be able to take the reigns of their very own goat and just start creating chaos. The game has been available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 for a little while now and it only seems fair that the game is finally launching on Sony’s hardware.

The game has been available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 since April and has been available on PC and mobile platforms even longer than that. Once the game launches on the PS3 and PS4 on August 11 it will basically be on every platform you can think of.

Coffee Stain Studios has always had a weird sense of humour, especially when you factor in the developer’s non-sensical and oddball Goat Simulator franchise. The game has had its share of poking fun at pop-culture and even released a new update called GoatZ, mimicking the popular DayZ franchise.

However, one of the odder references made by the indie dev was to Metal Gear Solid 5 director Hideo Kojima, who is listed under the “Special Thanks” section. Silent Hills is also featured with Coffee Stain saying “Please bring it back. Pretty please?”

The dev noted on its Facebook page that, “We heard that Hideo Kojima was removed from the credits for Metal Gear Solid V so we added him to the credits for Goat Simulator.”

It hasn’t been confirmed if Konami actually removed Kojima’s name from the credits but it has been striking his name off of promotional material left and right. The publisher also dissolved Kojima Productions in Japan and cancelled development of Silent Hills.

Still, at least Coffee Stain is open to hiring Kojima when he (allegedly) leaves Konami. Thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.

There's nothing that a jet-packing goat wrecking havoc can't cure.

Coffee Stain Studios’ Goat Simulator is finally out on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, co-developed by Double Eleven (which has handled various ports like Limbo for PS Vita, PS4 and Xbox One).

You’ll find the Xbox One version’s page live with the Xbox 360 version to follow shortly after. For those living under a rock, Goat Simulator is a…well, it’s an exaggerated, halucinogenic, almost nightmarish version of what it would be like to play as a goat. This particular version will sport split-screen co-op and feature such nuanced gameplay features as jet-packs (can’t be controlled) and slow-mo (even less chance of being controlled).

If you don’t own an Xbox console, then cheer up – Goat Simulator is also available on iOS, Android, PC, Mac OS X and Linux. There is truly no escape from the goats, no matter where you go.

What are your thoughts on having Goat Simulator for Xbox One? Let us know in the comments.
