As reported by @HaloHubGG on Twitter, Microsoft’s filing for the Halo: The Endless trademark is being opposed by Sega-owned developer Amplitude Studios, developer of roguelike tower defense title Dungeon of the Endless. Amplitude Studios feels Microsoft’s trademark would infringe on their own property’s name.

Amplitude Studios has developed a number of instalments in its Endless series, including Endless Space, Endless Legend, and Endless Space 2. The studio is currently working on Endless Dungeon as well.

What this means for Microsoft’s trademark filing remains to be seen, though there’s a chance that the company decides to rename the Halo project in question in order to avoid issues with the trademark filing.

Leaks have repeatedly claimed that 343 Industries is working on a new unannounced Halo game. Multiple job listings over the last couple of years have also suggested the same.

As we have previously reported, the trademark application for Halo: The Endless indicates that the trademark is likely related to a game, versus a book or other game related content/products.
