Get renewed value out of your broken tools, weapons, and armor by crafting the Repair Kit with this guide for Hytale.

With durability a major gameplay factor in Hytale, being able to repair your various tools, weapons, and armor is critical to your survival. However, it might not be clear exactly how and when to make use of the Repair Kit for maximum effectiveness.

This Hytale guide details everything there is to know about crafting and using the Repair Kit.

How To Craft The Repair Kit

The Repair Kit is a little further along in your crafting progression than you might expect. This is because the materials needed to craft it require both the Tanning Rack and the Furnace to be deployed first. These materials are:

Linen Scraps x2

Iron Ingot x1

Light Leather x1

Access your general Workbench and navigate to the second tab along the top, titled ‘Tools’ to find the Repair Kit right at the start of the items.

As a single-use, consumable item, you will have to place the Repair Kit in your hotbar and then right-click it. This will display a ‘Repair Items’ pop-up listing all the repairable items currently in your Inventory, alongside their Durability expressed in percentages.

Selecting an item instantly consumes the Repair Kit with no confirmation dialog, so be certain before you commit. The maximum durability of the item being repaired will be lowered by 10% each time a Repair Kit is used. As such, it is generally ideal to completely exhaust an item’s durability before repairing it for maximum value.

Additionally, given that the materials required to craft the Repair Kit are harder to acquire than those required for merely crafting the majority of low-tier items, these are best saved and used on higher tier tools, weapons, and armor.

Eventually the maximum durability of an item will be whittled down to zero, at which it will permanently become both unrepairable and unusable, but will remain salvageable with the Salvager’s Workbench which is a Tier 2 Workbench recipe.

Grind for Linen Scraps, and Light Hide for Light Leather quickly and efficiently using this guide for Hytale.

Are you having some difficulty accumulating sufficient quantities of basic materials such as Linen Scraps, Light Hide, and Light Leather in the Hytale early game? Since these resources are randomized loot drops that you will have to gather from a variety of slaughtered mobs, animals, and critters, they can often become a bottleneck in your progression.

This guide is all about farming for Linen Scraps, and Light Hide for Light Leather, quickly and efficiently in Hytale.

How To Farm Linen Scraps

The primary source for Linen Scraps are the various low-level Skeletal mobs that you encounter in the early game. Since locating them can be a chore, you can make it easier on yourself simply by going on the hunt during the night when they have a greater chance of spawning. Moreover, scattered Skeletal mobs will be clearly identifiable in the darkness from a distance by the flaming torches that they carry. Skeletal mobs can drop between one and two Linen Scraps per kill.

Trorks, on the other hand, drop between two and three Linen Scraps per kill, however you may have some difficulty handily battling them early on without the right tier of weapons and armor. Both these enemy types can populate various camps or outposts in the overworld, where you can return periodically and farm them when they respawn.

Finally, caves can randomly have Goblin mob camps populating them as well. If you do succeed in locating a cave spawn, be sure to mark it on your map, so that you can return to it later once they have respawned, for another culling.

Chests in the wild are an unreliable source of Linen Scraps, as are destructible barrels, boxes, and crates.

How To Farm Light Hide For Light Leather

Light Hide is a loot drop from a variety of small adult animals. These include only the following:

Antelopes

Chickens

Deer

Foxes

Goats

Rabbits

Rats

Sheep

Since all animals respawn eventually, you should never really run out of sources for Light Hide. You will need three Light Hide just to initially craft the Tanning Rack at the Workbench, but any materials above that can be put towards processing into Light Leather in a 1:1 exchange.

Chests in the wild are an unreliable source of Light Hide, as are destructible barrels, boxes, and crates.

Here is a guide on how to craft and upgrade your general Workbench in Hytale, as well as the materials required.

In Hytale, the Workbench serves as the basic workstation that enables the crafting of more advanced items and tools, upgrading you beyond the crude tools that you have been assembling thus far from the Pocket Crafting section of your Inventory. As with any survival crafting game, there is some degree of progression to get both it and further upgrades.

This guide for Hytale is all about quickly assembling the general purpose Workbench and upgrading it further.

Crude Tools

In order to efficiently collect the materials required for the Workbench, you will first need these two tools: Crude Hatchet And Crude Pickaxe, in order to gather them. Quickly collect some Plant Fiber and Sticks from grass and bushes, as well as Stone Rubble from either Mossy Stone Rubble or normal Stone Rubble off of the ground. You may also stumble upon Piles of Sticks in some biomes. You will need two of each material for every tool you intend to craft.

Craft The Workbench

Use your new Crude Hatchet to harvest Tree Logs by chopping away at any Tree in your biome, and your Crude Pickaxe to mine Stone from full-sized Stone blocks as opposed to Stone Rubble. You will need four Tree Logs and three Stones in order to craft the Workbench directly from your Pocket Crafting window in the Inventory.

Be mindful while placing your Workbench, especially if you intend to upgrade this specific one, as taking it down resets its upgrade level. The upgrade materials will be refunded in full.

Also of note is that by placing your Chests within a six block distance of your Workbench, it will allow the latter to pull stored materials directly from them for your crafting recipes, thus sparing you the need of ferrying resources back and forth manually in your Inventory. You can get a visual indicator that it is doing so by looking for a tiny chest icon next to a given material in the crafting recipe.

Upgrade The Workbench

Eventually you will have crafted every item and workstation that the Workbench has to offer at Tier 1, and will need to upgrade it to Tier 2 in order to continue progression. Upgrading the Workbench requires the following materials:

Copper Ingot x30

Iron Ingot x20

Linen Scraps x20

Copper Ingots will require a Furnace in order to smelt Copper Ore in a 1:1 exchange, as does Iron Ingot from Iron Ore. Both of these ought to be plentiful in the starting area. Linen Scraps are loot drops from the various undead skeletal mobs, so you will have to engage in a lot of combat to accrue the 20 pieces required by both it and other crafting recipes.

That is all there is to know about crafting and upgrading the general Workbench in Hytale.

Get between 9 and 27 more Inventory slots by crafting the consumable Backpack and its two upgrades with this guide for Hytale.

As you run around the map in Hytale you will probably be stumbling across much more than you can actually hold in your Inventory. That is where the Backpack consumable upgrade comes in to save your sanity from sorting stuff.

This guide for Hytale is everything there is to know about increasing the number of Inventory slots through the use of Backpack upgrades.

How To Craft And Use A Backpack

The first Backpack upgrade is readily available as soon as you have a general Workbench to craft it from. This upgrade is buried in the fourth tab along the top, titled ‘Tinkering’. Crafting the Backpack requires the following materials:

Iron Ingot x8

Medium Leather x8

Iron Ingots are readily smelted in the Furnace from Iron Ore, which should be plentiful in the starting area. Medium Leather may pose more of a chore as you will have to slaughter your way through a number of Wolves and Moose, and then process their Medium Hide loot drops in a Tanning Rack.

Once you have the Backpack in hand, you will need to equip it in your hotbar in order to use it. If you are puzzled about why it disappears, that is because it merely adds an additional row of nine slots in your Inventory, rather than acting as a bag within your Inventory. You can access these additional slots by clicking the bag icon to the right of your character, last in the column under Pocket Crafting and Collected Memories. Since the buttons are toggles, you can simply keep it as the default option in order to always remain visible.

Note that further crafting and consumption of additional Backpacks is a pointless waste as it is a one-time use item. You will see the message ‘An item of this type can only be used once and you have already used one!’

Instead you will want to craft the two distinct Backpack Upgrades.

Upgrade A Backpack

The first Backpack Upgrade is relatively easier and requires a Workbench that has been upgraded to Tier 2 in order to begin. Crafting the Backpack Upgrade I requires the following materials:

Cindercloth Scraps x40

Cobalt Ingots x8

Heavy Leather x24

Cindercloth Scraps are exclusive to volcanic biomes as loot drops from enemies there. Cobalt Ingots will need to be smelted in a Furnace in a 1:1 exchange from Cobalt Ore, which itself is found in the mountains of cold biomes, as well as in certain mining sites in the desert.

Heavy Leather is processed in the Tanning Rack from Heavy Hides, which will have to be gathered from slaughtering various large animals such as the bears and crocodiles.

The Backpack Upgrade I is activated in the same way as the Backpack, by equipping it in your hotbar and subsequently using it to unlock an additional row of nine slots in your Inventory. It too, is a single-use item and cannot be crafted and used again.

Backpack Upgrade II

Backpack Upgrade II is a chore and requires the general Workbench to be upgraded to Tier 3 first. Crafting the Backpack Upgrade II requires the following materials:

Voidheart x1

Adamantite Ingots x8

Storm Leathers x16

It is fortunate that only a single Voidheart is required for this upgrade, as it is a fairly rare enemy drop from rare enemies that appear exclusively at night: the various Voidspawns.

Adamantite Ingots will need to be smelted in a Furnace in a 1:1 exchange from Adamantite Ore, which are exclusive to the Cinder Wastes of the Devastated Lands, both overland and underground. Mining it requires Pickaxes from advanced materials.

Storm Leather should come from Storm Hides in keeping with the pattern of previous hides and leathers, however neither spawn currently, nor do any creatures exist that could potentially drop them as loot.

This means that this Backpack Upgrade II is currently only possible in creative mode or via console commands.

The Backpack Upgrade II is activated in the same way as the Backpack and Backpack Upgrade I, by equipping it in your hotbar and subsequently using it to unlock an additional row of nine slots in your Inventory. It too, is a single-use item and cannot be crafted and used again.

That is everything currently known about expanding your Inventory slots with the Backpack and its two separate Backpack Upgrades in Hytale.

Hytale is finally coming out after having started development quite some time ago and even getting cancelled back in June 2025.

Developer Hypixel Studios has announced that its highly-anticipated sandbox RPG, Hytale, will be coming out as an Early Access game tomorrow. Leading up to this, studio founder Simon Collins-Laflamme has confirmed that more than 1 million players have bought access to the title, and issued a warning that this might lead to server issues when trying to download the game. He has advised players to instead download the launcher in advance to avoid potential launch-day problems.

In another post, Collins-Laflamme also revealed that pre-orders for Hytale have done well enough for the studio to have officially secured development costs for the next two years. He noted that these pre-purchase figures, along with his own commitment to continue working on the title means that Hytale has a strong future ahead of it.

“Pleased to announce that we have officially secured the next two years of development costs through pre-purchases. Combined with my personal commitment of ten years, we are looking very strong for the future,” he wrote on social media. “Thank you all for the support. Hytale is saved. We are almost home.”

The development of Hytale has been an interesting journey. Having originally begun as a Minecraft multiplayer server named Hypixel, the project would pick up a life of its own with Hypixel Studios deciding to work on the sandbox RPG of its dreams. Riot Games of League of Legends and Valorant fame would eventually purchase the studio in 2020.

“We’ve been blown away by players’ response to Hytale, and Riot is the right partner to help us deliver a game that can live up to players’ expectations,” said Hypixel Studios’ CEO at the time Aaron Donaghey. “Since our first meetings with Riot leadership long before their initial investment, we’ve found in Riot a partner with a similar commitment to empowering players. As development kicks into high gear, we’ll benefit from Riot’s resources, expertise, and experience while maintaining the operational independence that has enabled our success so far.”

While development continued, the project would eventually get cancelled in June 2025. This would lead to Collins-Laflamme buying the Hytale IP off Riot Games to then resume development.

If you are interested in checking out Hytale for yourself, Hypixel recommends a PC running on at least an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU and 8 GB of RAM. For graphics, if you’re using an integrated GPU, the developer recommends either Intel UHD Graphics 620, or AMD Radeon Vega 6. Those with discrete GPUs should have either an Nvidia GTX 900 series card, an AMD Radeon 400 series card, or an Intel Arc A-series card. Supported operating systems are Windows 11, Windows 10 x64, Linux x64 running on kernel version 6.15 or higher, or Mac running on at least the Apple M1 chip and macOS version Tahoe or higher. The listed hardware is expected to run Hytale at 1080p and 30 FPS with the view distance set to 192.

For 1080 and 60 FPS with the higher view distance of 384, the studio recommends either an Intel Core i5-10400, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or an Apple M2 if you’re using a Mac, along with 16 GB RAM. Integrated GPUs supported are Intel Iris Xe Graphics and AMD Radeon 660M for Windows and Linux. Recommended discrete graphics cards are the same as the minimum requirements.

Riot Games president Dylan Jadeja revealed in a recent statement that the studio has been advising Hypixel for the last one and a half years.

“We’ve known the team behind Hypixel Studios for several years, and from the start they’ve been the kind of visionaries that we aspire to support; a passionate studio committed to delivering a groundbreaking, genre-defining experience for players. Over the last 18 months, we’ve been fortunate to advise Hypixel Studios as they build toward their vision for evolving a game genre that reaches an incredibly diverse range of players around the globe.

“Now, as they prepare to enter the next chapter, we’re thrilled to take our partnership to the next level through this acquisition. We look forward to supporting Hypixel Studios’ journey through the development process, helping them grow, and learning from them as well.”

Hypixel Studios CEO Aaron “Noxy” Donaghey stated, “We’ve been blown away by players’ response to Hytale, and Riot is the right partner to help us deliver a game that can live up to players’ expectations. Since our first meetings with Riot leadership long before their initial investment, we’ve found in Riot a partner with a similar commitment to empowering players. As development kicks into high gear, we’ll benefit from Riot’s resources, expertise, and experience while maintaining the operational independence that has enabled our success so far.”

The acquisition will see Riot Games working more closely with Hypixel, though the latter will still remain relatively unchanged. It will have an office in Derry / Londonderry in Northern Ireland and is currently hiring in 20 new positions for quality assurance and back-office work. Hytale is currently slated to release in 2021 and has seen a fairly strong reception from the Minecraft community thus far.

In development since 2015, Hytale features a procedurally generated world along with more fantasy elements. It has mini-games, biomes and dungeons while also allowing players to create custom content and mods. While its release is still a ways off, its initial announcement trailer has over 50 million views till date.
