Capcom's beloved crossover fighting game might actually end up making a comeback, though nothing it set in stone just yet.

It hasn’t been that long since Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite came out, but it’s fair to say that it wasn’t exactly the kind of game that series fans had hoped to see. Of course, said series fans have rallied behind getting the franchise back into the limelight one way or another, and demands for the beloved 2000 fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to be brought back have, in particular, been rather loud.

And it seems that there may actually be a chance of that happening. Digital Eclipse, as you might remember, was the company responsible for developing the game’s digital-only PS3 and Xbox 360 port in 2009 (which, of course, has long since been delisted), but speaking in a recent interview with GamerHubTV, studio head Mike Mika said that the developer has actually approached Capcom and Disney (both of which they have a good working relationship with) to begin discussions on possibly bringing back Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

“We’ve begun some discussions on that right now, and we’re trying to see how far we can go,” Mika said. “But ultimately, at the end of the day, it’s really not up to us. Parts of that are owned by two different, really large entities that have a lot of reasons why they would want or not want to do some of that, that we’re not privy to. So all we can really do is just make the best case possible, and try to make it easy for them, and see if they’re interested.”

Of course, whether or not Capcom and Disney end up liking Digital Eclipse’s pitch and decide to finally do something with the beloved fighter again remains to be seen, but it’s excellent to see someone seeing the initiative regardless. Here’s hoping something actually comes out of this.

Fighting games aren’t for the weak of heart. Yes, you could hop into a game like Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball FighterZ or Street Fighter 5 and get by on some basic inputs. But properly mastering all the different combos and set-ups takes time. Then you have those combos which exist for no other reason than to destroy your motivation. Let’s take a look at 9 of them here.

Leona Trial 10 – The King of Fighters 13

The Trials in The King of Fighters 13 represent a fine line between testing your skill and outright destroying your hand. Leona Heidern’s Trial 10 is a good example. It consists of 16 hits with the need to transition from a Moon Slasher to a Baltic Launcher by canceling out of the latter not once, not twice but three times in a row. Then you have to execute and cancel out of a Grand Saber run, perform the Moon Slasher to Baltic Launcher inputs again, execute a V-Slasher – an in-air Desperation Move that requires one directional quarter circle followed by a half-circle and either Low or High Punch – before ending with a Leona Blade Neomax, which is another quarter circle followed a half-circle into a Low or High Punch. Got all that? Naturally, you need to be frame perfect, especially with the cancels, to pull it off properly.

Brian Hadfords says recent tweet was "about me being a big fan" after seeing an ad.

Voice actor Brian Hadford, better known for voicing V in Devil May Cry 5, whipped fans into a frenzy yesterday after tweeting about the “next #CapcomVS game”. While the tweet could be interpreted in several different ways, many assumed it was hinting at a new title. After all, Capcom has had some outstanding crossover fighters in its history – why wouldn’t fans get excited?

Hadford issued a follow-up tweet, however, and noted that he has “NO KNOWLEDGE of any new Capcom games or the potential of what any of their games may entail. This tweet was about me being a big fan & seeing an Instagram ad about Capcom characters. Again, please understand, I am in no way teasing or revealing info.”

Hadford’s clarification doesn’t necessarily mean a new Capcom Vs title isn’t in development. However, if people assumed that it could be revealed soon, then this follow-up removes any possibility. Then again, if Marvel vs. Capcom 2 managed to get into EVO 2020 after years of fan requests, maybe there’s hope yet for a sequel.

The last major Capcom VS title was Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which released in September 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It faced a number of criticisms at launch for its gameplay, limited roster and shabby presentation. Several updates since released have helped to improve it, though it’s still considered on the lower end of Capcom’s best.
