Xbox Live users can now purchase the Russian Spec Ops uniform for their avatar from Modern Warfare 3.  So yet another military outfit you can add to your collection, which if you are an avatar purchasing addict, I am sure you’ll want.  However, for more conservative gamers that don’t feel the need to pour money into the massive Microsoft wallet, you might want to hold off on spending that 400 Points.  The Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 includes a Juggernaut Avatar suit with it.

Also available in the Modern Warfare 3 Avatar Marketplace are MW3 Shirts, Hoodies, Hat, American Scuba Spec Ops Out, as well as French, and British Special Forces Uniforms.  All uniforms are 400 Microsoft Points, all shirts/hat are 80 Points while the Hoodie is 160 Microsoft Points.  All of the Avatar items have male and female version except of course for the unisex Hat.

November is almost here and that means Modern Warfare 3 is almost here.  Now usually when it comes to those big titles, publishers release a Standard version, a Limited Edition version (or Hardened Edition with past COD games), and the Ultimate Edition that always runs you somewhere around $150. This time around Modern Warfare 3 will not have a $150 version of the game but instead a Standard Edition ($59.99) and the Hardened Edition which will cost you $100.

Now you might know what you get with the Hardened Edition, but if you are like me, until now I did not know exactly what would be included.  For example what the hell is Founder Status (included in Hardened Edition)?  Well I will break it down for you and tell you everything you will get in detail.  The Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition comes with the following:

• The MW3 game featuring unique art on the disc
• A Collectible Steel Book Case
• 1 year of Call of Duty Elite Membership, which will include future downloadable content and maps for Modern Warfare 3
• Founder Status on Call of Duty Elite which will include an exclusive in game Emblem, Playercard, Weapon Camouflage, Clan XP Boost, and more (see below).
• Xbox 360 owners get an exclusive Juggernaut Avatar Outfit and Playstation 3 players will get a COD Animated Timeline Theme
• Collectible Book/Field Journal which chronicles the entire Call of Duty saga with 100+ pages of military sketches, diagrams and hand written entries.

Now back the whole ‘Found Status’ thing, which requires you to either activate your Call of Duty Elite Membership by November 13th (if you are not getting the Hardened Edition) or just get it included with the Hardened Edition.  Exactly what you will get out of this is as follows:

So there you have it… everything you are getting with the $100 Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3.  If you are a big fan, you will want to get this package and you might want to hurry to pre-order it because I am sure they will go quickly.  Modern Warfare 3 comes out on November 8th, 2011 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, DS and PC.

Activision’s Call of Duty series has been selling like crazy since… well, forever. With all CoD games since Modern Warfare- Modern Warfare, World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops- selling over 10 million units, and the previous two games in the series- Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops- selling over 20 million units, Call of Duty has to be the highest selling franchise of this generation.

With the arrival of Battlefield 3, however, a huge chop in the sales of Modern Warfare 3 seems imminent. Infinity Ward, however, doesn’t (apparently) care.

“Our 100 per cent focus is making a game that we’re going to love to play, that we’re going to be proud of, and that we know that our fans are going to play,” Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling said in an interview with IGN Australia.

“We don’t care if there are three people playing it or 30 million people playing it. If there are three people having a great time then we’ve done our job correctly and we will be happy.”

Well, I’d be pretty bummed out if one game of my series sold 28 million units, and the next one did not even sell half that much (but even that would be a pretty impressive number).

Battlefield 3 seems to be selling pretty well already, close to a month before its release. Analysts believe it has crossed 1.5 million pre-orders already.

At the Call of Duty XP event, Infinity Ward detailed the script of Modern Warfare 3 and how long it was. In a panel called ‘The Voices of Call of Duty’, voice artists who have lent their talents for the game were answering questions fired by those in the audience. Nolan North and Michael Rooker and Captain Price voice actor Billy Murray were some of the famous people present in the booth.

Keith Arem, Activision talent director and panel host, revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have 10,000 more lines of dialogue than last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. “To give everyone a kind of perspective, if you look at an average television show, a half-hour series, that has about 400 lines of dialogue, and a full motion picture is going to have around 1,500 lines of dialogue,” said Arem.

“By the time we add in 80, 90, 100 characters and all the soldiers, I think on Black Ops we were pushing 25, almost 30,000 lines of dialogue. We’re at about 41,000 lines of dialogue in Modern Warfare 3 right now.

“Managing that much content, we record over a year, and we’re on the motion-capture stage, we’re in the voiceover booth.”

William Fichtner will also be voice acting a character in the game, and his character, Arem says, is “a very prominent character, one of the lead characters.” Fichtner is famous for his voice works in GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, and Turok. He also played the bank manager in the beginning of The Dark Knight.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hits the stores on November 8 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and DS. Treyarch will be handling the Wii version, whereas N+ will be handling the DS one. You can check out all the latest Modern Warfare 3 updates here.

Activision has confirmed (via CVG) that the Hardened Edition of the upcoming first person shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, will cost $100. This confirmation came after several retailers leaked the price before an official announcement.

The Hardened Edition comes with the Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art, one year of membership in Call of Duty Elite, “Founder status” on Elite with exclusive in-game emblem, player card, camouflage, clan XP boost and other exclusive benefits, steelbook case, PlayStation Network exclusive: “Animated Timeline Theme”, Xbox 360 exclusive: “Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live Outfit”, and a Limited-edition “field journal” with more than 100 pages of “authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries”.

Activision has announced a shitload of new details for Modern Warfare 3, revealing new killstreaks, detailing modes, multiplayer, everything.

The new killstreak system now encourages different play styles, awarding you for not just kills, but team based objectives as well. A new weapon progression system is also in place, that lets you unlock specific attachments for weapons, and weapon proeffiencies, which allow you to upgrade your weapon and make it more durable and usable by doing stuff like reducing recoil, reducing flinches and the like.

Team Defender and Kill Confirmed- collecting dog tags from killed enemies- are some new game modes for the MP.  Black Ops’ Gun Game and One in the Chamber will also be included. The game will include 16 MP maps.

ALL-NEW STRIKE PACKAGES: Killstreaks have been redesigned to reward different play styles and skill levels through unique Strike Packages. Completing game mode objectives now counts towards your Pointstreak progression. For the first time ever, kills are not the only way to earn Pointstreaks. This also allows Pointstreaks to cater to more unique play-styles:

Survival Mode: – Making its first appearance in MW3, Survival Mode is the New Special Ops mode in which players face wave upon wave of attacking enemies. Acquaint yourself with all 16 MP maps by playing through them on Survival Mode – a great way for players to prepare for online multiplayer.
Mission Mode: Mission Mode makes its return, allowing players to team up with a friend locally or online for 16 new time-trial and objective-based missions.
Ranking/Progression System: An independent rank progression system within the Special Ops based on the rank progression players encounter in multiplayer.

The game releases in November for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and DS. An MW3-themed Xbox 360 has also been announced, and it will release on the day the game releases.

Activision has announced that they will be releasing a Modern Warfare 3-themed Xbox 360 bundle to go along the launch of the game, and will release on November 8, the day when the game itself releases.

The pack will include a Modern Warfare 3 themed Xbox 360, of course, with two MW3 themed wireless controllers and a copy of the game. It will come with and exclusive items for Xbox Live avatars and a month of free subscription for Xbox Live Gold.

Much like the Star Wars themed Xbox 360, the special edition console will have custom sounds from the game for when the system is turned on and off and for when the disc tray is ejected.

All of this will come for $400. A pretty good deal, I think.

Activision will also be selling Modern Warfare 3 themed Xbox 360 peripherals separately. They be selling MW3 themed controllers for  $60, and similarly themed wireless Bluetooth headsets for $70. Both will come with exclusive yet unannounced downloadable stuff (codes for the stuff, actually) for the game.

Sledgehammer Games was a studio Activision had set up especially to take the Call of Duty franchise in an all new direction. Sledgehammer had been working on a “third person action adventure game” for the CoD franchise, and they thought it was looking really good when they had the prototype done. But when they were offered the opportunity to work on Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward, they just couldn’t pass it up.

“We came on board to make a third person action adventure game in the Call of Duty franchise and we were working on it for about six months,” Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield told GameSpot.

“We had about six to eight months on that and put a prototype together that was pretty compelling and it looked really good,” head of studio development Michael Condrey added. “[Then] we had the opportunity to work on the biggest thing in the industry with a developer in Infinity Ward that has demonstrated that they know how to do exceptional software. It was an opportunity we couldn’t miss.

“There are a lot of people on the team who have worked on Call of Duty before, on first-person shooters before, so there’s a lot of built-in knowledge about the first-person shooter genre and a lot of passionate gamers,” Condrey said. “There are guys on the floor who are on their tenth prestige in Black Ops. So it was a nice marriage of experience in the genre and sort of fan desire to work on this franchise.”

Modern Warfare 3 releases on November 8 for the Xbx 360, PS3, PC, DS and Wii. N+ will be handling the DS version, and Treyarch the Wii version.
