You won’t be breaking the bank on storage space for this one, I can tell you that much.

Onimusha: Warlords HD, the upcoming remaster of the classic feudal Japan action game by Capcom, is almost here—it launched in Japan already, but the west gets it later this month. If you’re going to be getting the game on Xbox One (and presumably, PS4, since games tend to have similar file sizes on both systems), the good news is you won’t have to clear up a lot of space for it.

According to the info on the product page for the game on the Microsoft Store, the game will end up taking up 10.09GB of storage space on your system. Which honestly isn’t a lot for Xbox One owners. As mentioned already, presumably the PS4 version will have a similar file size, while the Switch version will come in at far lower. On the other hand, on PC, we know the game is going to end up taking 16GB of storage space, which presumably makes that version the largest one.

Onimusha: Warlords launches on January 15, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The remaster will have 56 Trophies and 55 Achievements in total.

The HD remaster of Onimusha: Warlords is almost here, and though it’s not the Onimusha sequel we’ve been waiting for, it’s still much more of the series than we’ve seen in years. It’s also an incredible opportunity to go back and play a modernized and shiner version of a great action title, so no one’s complaining.

Part of that remastering will, of course, include support for Trophies and Achievements on the PS4 and Xbox One (respectively) as well. The full list of the Trophies/Achievements that players can unlock in Onimusha HD has now been released. There’s going to be a total of 56 Trophies in the game on PS4, and 55 Achievements on the Xbox One (since there is no separate Achievement equivalent of a Platinum Trophy on Xbox). Of these 56 Trophies, 28 are going to be Bronze, 5 are going to be Silver, 2 will be gold, and one, of course, will be Platinum.

You can check out the full list of Trophies at True Trophies. Meanwhile, those who’re planning on getting the game on PC will want to check out its system requirements. If you’re getting it on Switch, however, you might want to take a look at this Switch-specific gameplay trailer for it. Onimusha: Warlords HD launches on the four aforementioned platforms on January 15.

The remaster continues to look good each time it is shown.

Much to the surprise of everyone, Capcom decided to actually support the Switch with an upcoming release right from the get go with Onimusha Warlords HD, rather than releasing it first for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and then announcing a Switch version belatedly after a lot of people have already played it on other systems.

Even more surprisingly, they are apparently also actually marketing the Switch version, which seems to have a lot of effort put into it (though, to be fair to Capcom, they always do put in effort into their Switch games). You can check out this trailer, which was shared on Nintendo’s YouTube channel, for yourself below. It seems like the Switch version is visually fairly impressive as well, though of course, it’s not unreasonable to suppose that the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will be far better than it on this front.

If you want to see more of the game, another recent trailer showed off some of the unique brand of action gameplay the series was known for, which you can check out for yourself here. Onimusha Warlords HD launches for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 15, 2019.

Just to be clear though, this doesn’t mean they want to annualized their franchises.

Capcom’s resurgence this generation has been amazing. The company has managed to revitalize some of its beloved IP, such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, achieving its biggest successes ever as a result, and seems to be regaining a lot of favor and goodwill with fans. And going forward, Capcom intends to continue along that path.

Speaking in its annual report, Capcom noted that it wants to achieve annual releases of its core IP on an ongoing basis. To be clear, this doesn’t mean that it wants to annualize Monster Hunter or what have you—rather, that it wants at least one of its core brands to get a major release every year. This is something Capcom has already begun to achieve in the last few years, with Street Fighter 5 launching in 2016, Resident Evil 7 in 2017, and Monster Hunter World in 2018.

Capcom also stated that it intends to leverage its dormant IP, while also creating new ones, recognizing that those are vital to its long term success. They also noted that the continued success of PS4 and Xbox One, plus the launch of the Nintendo Switch, are contributing to the better health of the console market, so I suppose we can expect more support for all three from them going forward.

Capcom fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming months—Resident Evil 2 launches on January 25, accompanied by Ominusha: Warlords HD launching earlier that month, and Devil May Cry 5 launching in March.

It's surprising how well the game's brand of action seems to hold up.

Early next year, Capcom will be releasing Onimusha Warlords HD, a remaster of the original game with quite a bit of effort put into it, and the first release in a franchise that many had given up hope on ever returning in today’s marketplace. Now, ahead of that release, Capcom has shared a brand new trailer for the remaster that shows off the brand of nostalgic action gameplay that made the series so beloved among fans to begin with.

I mentioned previously that the remaster has had a lot of effort put into it, and fans of the original will probably instantly perceive that upon seeing this video, and noticing just how enhanced compared to the original the visuals and sounds are. While no one will mistake this for a modern game based on the graphics, it is clear that quite a bit of time went into the remaster regardless. The video, which you can see below, shows us Samanosuke Akechi and Kaede hacking and slashing through the game.

Onimusha Warlords HD launches for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 15.
