Yu Narukami, the protagonist, is played by Nazeeh Tarsha (Genshin Impact, Kaiju No. 8), while Yosuke Hanamura is voiced by Paul Castro Jr. (Death Stranding 2: On the Beach). Chie Satonaka is brought to life by Anne Yatco (Genshin Impact, Jujutsu Kaisen), while Yukiko Amagi is played by Brianna Knickerbocker (Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter). Finally, Ari Thrash (Honkai: Star Rail) plays the mysterious Marie.

Again, Atlus hasn’t really said why the English voice actors were recast, which led Yuri Lowenthal, who previously voiced Yosuke, to voice his frustration. Regardless, the new cast is pretty seasoned and should bring the beloved Investigation Team to life, though we’re yet to learn who voices other key members like Kanji, Rise, Naoto and Teddie.

Persona 4 Revival will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC when it launches next year. It will also be available on Game Pass at release. In the meantime, stay tuned for a deeper dive on the remake when Persona 4 TV airs on June 18th at 4 PM PT.

The rating could indicate that Sega and Atlus preparing to showcase more of the title in the coming months. Persona 4 Revival was officially unveiled back in June 2025 with a teaser trailer, and as the name implies, it’s going to be a ground-up remake of the 2008’s Persona 4. Its teaser trailer indicated that we might see a visual style similar to Persona 3 Reload – the 2024 remake of 2006’s Persona 3.

At the time, there were no other details aside from a quick look at some of the many areas in the town of Inaba that players can visit, from its market street to the protagonist’s house and even the classroom. As far as gameplay is concerned, it only showcased the protagonist running from the Inaba town shrine through its market street.

Rumors of a Persona 4 remake circulated for a long time before launch. One report accurately reported that it would be similar in style to Persona 3 Reload, but would also feature entirely new assets, voice acting, and music.

Discussions about the remake had also come up in May 2025, when Yuri Lowenthal – the voice actor for Persona 4 party member Yosuke Hanamura – had indicated that it was in the works. In a social media post, he said that he had “begged” to reprise his role, but Atlus had declined. The voice actor’s post has since been deleted.

Despite the number “4” in its title, Persona 4 is essentially the second game in the series that would define Persona for years to come. While Revelations: Persona, and Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment had both already come out by then, their gameplay systems and themes were quite different from what we would eventually get with Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. The franchise became well-known for focusing on the social aspects that play an important role in the lives of school-going teens, who have always served as protagonists.

In Persona 4, the player takes on the role of Yu Narukami, who moves to the small town of Inaba for a school year since his parents had to travel abroad. While the hero makes friends, the plot truly kicks off with mysterious disappearances, dead bodies showing up in strange places, and an urban legend about a certain TV channel that’s only visible on rainy nights.

Persona 4 Revival is confirmed to be in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and will also be playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

According to the Sega Sammy Management Meeting 2025 presentation, both titles will launch in or after fiscal year 2027. It begins on April 1st, 2026, but that doesn’t mean either could arrive by next year. Instead, they could very well launch by March 31st, 2027, which is when the fiscal year concludes.

Of course, there are several titles whose release windows remain unknown, including the next Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, so stay tuned for updates. Sega has several other titles coming this year to fill the gap, with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance out on August 29th and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launching on September 25th. In his statement, Wada also wrote about how Persona 4 had been expanded since its release, complete with multiple anime adaptations, and spin-off games in a wide range of genres, from fighting games to dungeon crawlers and even rhythm games.

“Persona 4 has spawned numerous spin-off works, including TV anime, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and is a special title that has been a part of Atlus for many years and holds a personal place in my heart,” wrote Wada. “We are currently working on this project with all our passion and love. We are confident that this will be a fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans, and we look forward to sharing it with you all.”

Atlus had recently confirmed that it is working on a remake for Persona 4. Dubbed Persona 4 Revival, the game was announced with a teaser trailer during Xbox Games Showcase 2025 over the weekend. While the teaser didn’t reveal much in the way of details, we did get to see scenes from Persona 4 designed using more modern hardware and technology, including its classrooms and the streets of the game’s village setting of Inaba.

Persona 4 was originally released on the PS2 all the way back in 2008. At the time, it, along with Persona 3, played a large part in popularising the franchise all over the world. It also served as the impetus for Atlus to further expand on the Persona franchise in the form of spin-offs and adaptations. The game also marked an improvement over its predecessor by bringing in gameplay refinements as well as a wider variety of dungeons.

The game’s story revolves around the small village of Inaba getting rocked by gruesome murders. The plot plays out alongside urban legends of the Midnight Channel that indicate that looking at a switched-off TV at midnight will reveal to the viewer their soulmate. Things quickly get out of hand, however, and it is up to the protagonist and his friends to explore the world of Shadows and Persona to help solve the mysterious murders.

Since its original release, Persona 4 got an enhanced re-release that was originally exclusive to the PlayStation Vita. Ultimately, it was released on PC and more recent platforms in 2020. Persona 4 has also been a part of several spin-offs, including the dungeon crawlers Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, and Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth.

While no gameplay was revealed in the trailer, we did get a good look at the new rendition of the small village of Inaba thanks to the more modern technology powering the game under the hood. If Persona 3 Reload is any indication, we will likely also see more modernised menus in Persona 4 Revival that are more in line with Persona 5.

The fact that a remake of Persona 4 was in the works has been the subject of quite a few rumours in recent times. The game is likely being made for the studio to get some practice in as they start work on the next mainline title in the Persona franchise.

Persona 4 Revival is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be playable through Xbox Cloud.
