Sega kicked off 2024 by launching not one, but two massive JRPGs in the space of a week, and both have turned out to be big successes for the company. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth came first, raking in the plaudits and enjoying commercial success to match, with over a million copies sold at launch. Persona 3 Reload, which released last week, is off to a similar start.

The acclaimed RPG remake currently sits at a Metacritic score of 88, and right out the gate, it’s seeing impressive sales as well. Taking to Twitter, Atlus announced that Persona 3 Reload sold over 1 million units in its first week, which, incidentally, also makes it the company’s fastest-selling game of all time. That’s an impressive start as it is, but when you consider the fact that the game is also available via Game Pass, it becomes even more so.

At launch, Persona 3 Reload hit a peak of 45,000 players on Steam, making it the biggest launch on the platform for an Atlus game to date. The remake also debuted in the weekly UK retail charts in second place.

Atlus has said that it doesn’t intend to release an expanded version of Persona 3 Reload similar to Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal, but leaks have claimed that the game will instead receive substantial post-launch DLC, which will also include Persona 3 FES’ exclusive story episode, The Answer.

Persona 3 Reload is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
