Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has had a rough launch, from servers being affected upon its already access release, to critical reception being lukewarm at best, to not being able to attract enough of an audience on Steam. Despite that, however, WB Games and Rocksteady Studios’ open world looter shooter debuted on top of last week’s UK charts for physical sales, as shared by GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter.

Looking deeper into the game’s performance, at launch, in terms of physical sales, it has performed better than The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered did in the UK when it released last month, but “slightly” worse than Tekken 8, which debuted on top of that charts last week. More worryingly, however, its physical launch numbers are about half of what Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy managed upon its release in 2021. The latter, in spite of its critical acclaim, was decidedly a commercial failure, so the comparison doesn’t bode well for Suicide Squad.

Meanwhile, Persona 3 Reloadwhich also launched last week, has entered the charts at No. 2, and as per Dring, has sold about as many physical units at launch in the UK as the aforementioned The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered did upon its release. For a remake in a smaller JRPG franchise, that’s a solid result, especially given its impressive performance on Steam.

Keep in mind that this data covers physical sales only, so the full extent of how these games are performing won’t become clearer until digital numbers become available later in the week.
