The Hiss might be a very potent threat, but Dylan’s more than up to the challenge thanks to some sick moves and his trusty weapons.

We’ve got yet another glimpse of Dylan in action in Control Resonant, and he’s quite the powerhouse in this new gameplay trailer that dropped at the PC Games Show.

He’s still going to have to work for his victories, as The Hiss brings all kinds of otherworldly creatures to Manhattan’s twisted streets in a combat loop that sees him use slams, uppercuts, aerial launches, and dashes, and some excellent combos irrespective of whether you’re battling enemies on the ground or in the air. He’s also got some deadly finishers that see him transform into strange creatures of his own, including a knight that looks like it’s capable of tanking quite a bit of damage thanks to its suit of armor.

Those moves aren’t just for the battlefield, as we see him use them to navigate environments that might give you a case of the dizzies if you’re not careful. Manhattan’s shaping up to be quite the playground for our new(ish) hero, and it’s apparently going to be more complex than the trailers are letting on. This one drops on September 24 this year, and you can bet that we’re going to be all over it like one of the Hiss’s swarms of enemies.

The trailer, along with an interview with the developers that gives us a lot of insight into how this one was designed, are showcased below.

Floating bodies, surreal architectural marvels, the ominous Resonants, new enemies - the city is a massive new playground to explore.

It wasn’t enough to showcase Dylan’s mental state and memories when accepting the mission to combat whatever has taken control of Manhattan. The latest trailer for Control Resonant offers a wider look at the city itself, in all its paranatural glory, while teasing a new hostile resonance.

If nothing else, treat this as a showcase of Remedy Entertainment’s incredible environmental design. The brutalist corridors of the Oldest House give way to impossible architectural sights in the city. You’ll see plenty of bodies floating about, most likely due to The Hiss, and new enemies who aren’t afraid to attack Dylan at first sight.

It’s a lot to take in, much less get your footing in, but Control Resonant is easily shaping up to be one of the most impressive games this year. Leaning further into an action RPG gameplay loop, Dylan can leverage different abilities and Aberrant forms to craft unique playstyles. He’ll need it to survive against the Resonants – powerful paranatural entities with mysterious purposes.

Control Resonant launches on September 24th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Unfortunately, the Deluxe Edition, which retails for $70, only offers 48 hours of advanced access for PlayStation players. At least the base game only costs $60.

Remedy's Thomas Puha also confirmed impressions from press and content creators across the US, Mexico, Brazil, and more in the coming weeks.

Control Resonant arrives on September 24th, and there’s plenty more for Remedy to reveal in the months ahead. Those who purchased the Deluxe Edition for advanced access can start two days earlier, but as it turns out, this is only on PS5.

Communications director Thomas Puha clarified this on Twitter, confirming it’s a PlayStation-exclusive benefit. Strangely enough, it’s not specified on the PlayStation Store, despite the platform-specific trailer indicating as much. Either way, if you’re on PC or Xbox Series X/S, it’s kind of a bummer.

Aside from this, Puha also confirmed that hands-on impressions are on the way, with Remedy venturing to Mexico City, São Paulo, Warsaw, Berlin and London to provide game access to the press and content creators. “We’ve been working on this the entire year. Setting this up all on our own has been a mammoth effort. Very excited to have folks get a good feel for the game and combat especially,” he said.

Pre-orders are now live for Control Resonant, and unlike many titles which have adopted the $70 price tag, the Standard Edition costs $59.99. This is despite being Remedy’s “biggest and most ambitious” game to date, right down to the 100 GB of installation space required on PC.

The Deluxe Edition costs $69.99, and aside from advanced access, you get an AWE Mission Outfit, a starter resource bundle, a digital art book and soundtrack, and an Untapped Artifact which serves as a “wallet.” Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming weeks.

The recommended requirements include a very reasonable Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 3070 or an RX 6700 XT.

Besides all the buzz surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey, the other big development from State of Play is how many games are launching in September. That includes Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant, and to keep the conversation going, it’s released the “initial” PC requirements.

The obvious standout is that players will need 100 GB of installation space on a solid-state drive. Compare that to Control Ultimate Edition, where, even with the base game and both expansions, it only requires 42 GB. It seems Remedy wasn’t kidding about it being their “biggest and most ambitious game” to date, especially when it comes to the installation space.

On the minimum side, you’ll need an Intel Core i5-8500 or equivalent AMD CPU, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5600 XT. The recommended requirements include a Ryzen 7 3700X or equivalent Intel CPU, the same RAM and an RTX 3070 or an RX 6700 XT. The graphics settings, target resolution, and more aren’t mentioned, but these are simply “initial” requirements. At least it supports Windows 10 64-bit alongside Windows 11.

Aside from PC, Control Resonant launches on September 24th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, with Remedy aiming for 60 FPS on all platforms. Expect more gameplay and the final PC requirements as we near its release.

Remedy Entertainment's "biggest and most ambitious game" yet finally has a release date on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Remedy Entertainment debuted a new trailer for Control Resonant, its highly anticipated sequel to Control, alongside a release date. It’s out on September 24th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with pre-orders now available. There’s even a Digital Deluxe Edition which provides 48 hours of early access, a starting resource bundle, an AWE Mission outfit, and much more.

As for the new trailer, it’s somewhat hard to pin down. After some brief flashbacks about his sister and the torment he felt in containment, Dylan Faden is told about a powerful resonance that emanated once the FBC’s lockdown ended. Someone admonishes him for not being FBC, and apparently not even human. Not that he’s going to stop playing hero, but the stakes are high.

Taking place over seven years after the original’s events (pretend FBC: Firebreak wasn’t a thing), Control Resonant sees Manhattan overtaken by a paranatural threat of massive proportions. Having awakened from his coma, Jesse’s brother ventures into the city to cull the threat, helping the Federal Bureau of Control and maybe finding his sister in the process.

Remedy has described Control Resonant as its “biggest and most ambitious game” to date, with the Southern Reach trilogy, The X-Files, and Roadside Picnic serving as inspirations. Combat has expanded significantly to include many more builds, whether it’s combo-focused melee attacks or paranatural abilities against foes. It expands even further in New Game Plus, which opens up a fourth Artifact slot for even crazier possibilities.

Jean-Charles Gaudechon also spoke about generative AI, and how it can't be used to make games as creative as Alan Wake 2.

Remedy Entertainment is known for its strange games that sometimes don’t sell too well. The studio’s new CEO, former EA executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon, spoke about the company’s various projects in an interview with The Game Business and discussed his plans to ensure that the studio sells more of its games going forward.

Discussing his previous tenure at Electronic Arts, Gaudechon spoke about understanding the fear that fans of Remedy’s works may have about whether this will end up turning the studio into something like EA. However, he said that his appointment as the studio’s new CEO happened because he knows “exactly what Remedy is,” and how the studio needs to be supported.

“There’s been a lot [of talk] about EA,” Gaudechon said. “What does it mean to have someone that has been spent time at EA? And I completely understand the fear of, ‘is he going to bring methods that work for a massive company and crush the soul of a studio like Remedy?’

“But I think I got chosen because I know exactly what Remedy is. And what needs to be protected, needs to be supported and needs to be grown. Remedy is one-of-a-kind. It’s a studio that has amazing creative drive. It’s a studio that also has been messy here or there, and that’s the beauty of the type of games that were made and how. What I hope I can bring to Remedy is vision on where the company could go and where we could make some improvements.”

“Who am I to change the DNA of a 30-year successful game studio?”

He spoke about the love and respect that Remedy has already garnered from its fans thanks to games like Alan Wake 2 and Control, and recounted getting messages from his friends telling him, “We love Remedy so much. Don’t f*** it up.”

“That shows you how much people love Remedy,” he said.

“Remedy is already one of the biggest game authors, with very strong signature products,” he continued. “Now, after seeing it from the inside, there’s so much more we can give in terms of super-strong authored, creative, crazy stories and gameplay. Honestly, we haven’t achieved half of the potential in terms of the products that we make.”

As for his plans for the studio, he wants to continue on the path that had already been set by Remedy Entertainment before his appointment as CEO. This means looking at how the various IPs owned by the studios can be turned into franchises.

“[Our deal with] Annapurna goes into making our games, our franchises shine further and reach an audience that doesn’t exist today,” he explained. “It’s a pity, I think Alan Wake should have sold more. Control should have sold more. To me, that’s one of the first things we need to fix, even before trying to make more games to a certain extent. First of all, maximize the potential of the ones we have, because they’re incredible. And cross-media is going to help us do that.”

Gaudechon also spoke about one of the biggest elephants in the room when it comes to discussing the gaming industry’s future – the use of generative AI. He noted that, while the studio is being “extremely cautious and not embracing AI clearly,” he sees the potential for AI tools to be useful in earlier stages of development and prototyping. While there won’t be a top-down mandate to force the use of AI tools, he also won’t block any of the developers from using AI where they think it might help.

“My stance is that AI is not going to make things cheaper, and it’s not going to make things cheaper for a pretty long time,” he said. “People thinking, ‘Oh, we can now make games cheaper with this’, I have big question marks around that. And what types of games, by the way? I said this during the earnings call, good luck trying to do Alan Wake 2 with AI. Try to use Genie and do that, and we’ll see where you land.”

“But we’ve always been an R&D studio. It’s always dabbling with tech stuff. So, I’m not going to block people from doing so. But we’re going to be extremely cautious on that, never getting anywhere close to creative and anywhere close to user-facing.”

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen also reveals that Control was always meant to be Remedy Entertainment's take on an RPG franchise.

Back before it was even called Control, Remedy Entertainment’s acclaimed action-adventure was the result of Mikael Kasurinen, now creative director on Control Resonant, wanting to create an RPG franchise. You may have noticed this with the implementation of dialogue choices, mods that could significantly change up playstyles, and even the non-linear exploration.

Speaking to GamesRadar at gamescom latam 2026, Kasurinen said, “When I was thinking about Control, and it wasn’t called Control or anything like that, but I had this kind of thinking in my head that I wanted to create an RPG franchise. ‘How do I get there?’ The question was, ‘What would it be? What’s the Remedy version of that?’ The way to learn is to start by doing, and that’s how Control was born.”

For a developer specialising in mostly linear experiences, especially those that didn’t demand much by way of build-crafting, it was a fresh challenge. “It was the first time we ever did that. There was a main story, but there’s also these other stories as well. You had side quests. We’d never done that before.

“We’d never done dialogue choices before, where you talk to a character [and] you can choose what to say. All that stuff was new … My intent was, ‘I want to find out what is the Remedy version of an RPG experience.’ That’s what Control was,” says Kasurinen.

Control Resonant still taps into the paranatural and otherworldly just like its predecessor, with books like the Southern Reach Trilogy and Roadside Picnic serving as influences alongside The X-Files. But in terms of gameplay, it finally marks the next pivotal step in Remedy’s RPG vision.

“With Resonant, I wanted to stop calling it action adventure. Instead, like, no, it’s an action RPG. This is Remedy’s RPG franchise, and we’re gonna kind of embrace that, fully commit to it, and so on, and go even further into that direction.”

While this would seemingly indicate that future entries will also be role-playing games, you have to wonder if Remedy is also thinking about how expansions could inform the gameplay. Control’s The Foundation added new abilities, while AWE connected to the Alan Wake franchise with new areas and challenges. But if Resonant receives DLC, we could see its systems undergoing major additions that lean further into its action RPG gameplay loop.

Of course, whether that happens and how it will work remains to be seen, especially since it doesn’t even have a release date. Nevertheless, Control Resonant is launching this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

It seems like Alan Wake's creations have finally found a place where they can fit in naturally (aside from the Dark Place).

As Phasmophobia prepares to leave Early Access sometime this year, it looks like Kinetic Games is testing the limits of what it can do in the meantime. The studio has announced a crossover with none other than Remedy’s Alan Wake 2.

You’re going to be searching for pages from Alan’s writings across four new familiars that fans out there are sure to recognize. Of course, you’ll likely run into complications, and will probably have to steel your nerves if you wish to come out of it all in one piece. That’s not to mention all the terrifying moments between your first contact with a ghost and the moment you either escape or prevail against it.

Combine that with Alan Wake 2’s bizarre worlds, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a limited-time event that we’re eager to check out as soon as we’re done telling you about it. The update’s live now, and is available until June 2nd. It came with a trailer that should give you a solid idea of what to expect, although we’d warn you that things can go wrong quite quickly in Phasmophobia, a facet of the experience that we really liked in our review.

"The gameplay and overall feel are coming together, and I am confident we have a strong product at hand," says CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon.

While Control and Alan Wake 2 continue to perform well for Remedy Entertainment, all eyes are on Control Resonant. And for good reason – as an open-ended game with expanded action RPG elements and the company’s biggest gameplay team in history, it’s easily their most ambitious title yet.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon is aware of this, and in the recent Business Review for the first quarter of 2026, he said, “We remain committed to our goal of making the game a ‘must-have day-one purchase’ for the fans of Control and for gamers worldwide.” He also cited a “lot of interest” from its announcement last December. “We expect the momentum to intensify leading up to the launch. Leading indicators are on track for us to reach this goal.”

If that’s not reassuring enough, Gaudechon added, “I play the game regularly; the gameplay and overall feel are coming together, and I am confident we have a strong product at hand.” It’s good news for Remedy, which has begun the year with a profitable first quarter.

While a release date wasn’t mentioned, Remedy is “on track for our 2026 launch.” “Our marketing activities and related spend will significantly intensify prior to the launch of the game.” Of course, this will likely follow the reveal of the release date rather than providing any hint towards its announcement.

Regardless, the excitement is palpable. At six-plus-million copies sold, Control is a huge hit for Remedy, and Resonant builds off it in several exciting ways. The first is the new protagonist, Dylan Faden, who employs a mix of telekinetic powers and close-quarters combat, aided by the shapeshifting Aberrant.

Then there’s Manhattan, a complete inversion of The Oldest House’s isolated corridors, where paranatural horrors run wild. It’s up to Dylan to defeat the Resonants and restore order to the city with the FBC’s help, and maybe find his sister along the way.

Control Resonant is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Head here to see it in action.

Control Resonant hype and being an "easy entry-point" into Remedy's bizarre universe have propelled the 2019 classic to new heights.

Remedy Entertainment’s latest Business Review for the period of January to March 2026 is now available, and after last year’s disappointing FBC: Firebreak, things are looking up. “Solid sales momentum” in the quarter led to 2019’s Control crossing six million units sold in its lifetime, said CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon.

You can thank the hype around Control Resonant, among other factors, but Remedy also feels that it’s an “easy entry-point” into the universe and “expands our addressable audiences.” Alongside PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, it’s now playable on iPad and iPhone.

Other notable titles include Alan Wake 2, which continues to earn royalties (no update on its total sales, unfortunately), and contributes to “normal back-catalogue sales” alongside other titles in the franchise.

FBC: Firebreak received a courtesy mention with Remedy noting that server upkeep, which allows it to remain playable after its last major update, should “not incur significant costs.” Could it pivot down the line if it’s not worth the expense? Probably, but for now, enjoy the co-op shooter while it lasts.

Control Resonant still doesn’t have a release window, but it’s scheduled to launch this year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It’s set more than seven years later, with the Federal Bureau of Control failing to maintain its lockdown, bringing calamity to Manhattan. With Jesse Faden missing, her brother Dylan steps up to potentially save humanity. You can learn more about how it’s handling New Game Plus here, or about some of the new threats, including a bus, here.
