Japanese users have spent $73 million on the sleep-tracking app since its release in July last year, while American users have spent $15 million.

It took a shockingly long four years for Pokemon Sleep to launch following its announcement in 2019, but since its release last July, it seems the sleep-tracking app has done well enough for The Pokemon Company in terms of the revenue that it has generated.

That’s as per a report published by Pocketgamer.biz, which claims that the app has earned over $100 million in revenue in its first year. Since July, the app has seen Japanese users spending over $73 million on it, with users in the United States spending another $15 million. In fourth place is Taiwan with $4 million spent.

In total, the report claims the app has been downloaded over 9.8 million times since last July, with 44 percent of those downloads coming from Japan, 17 percent from the US, and 7 percent from Taiwan.

Of course, compared to fellow mobile Pokemon outing Pokemon GO, Pokemon Sleep’s numbers are positively tiny, but for a sleep-tracking app, it has done well enough in its first year.

A new device called Pokemon GO Plus+ was also unveiled.

The Pokemon Company made a whole lot of Pokemon announcements at the Pokemon Press Conference yesterday. In addition to the Detective Pikachu game for the Nintendo Switch, they also made a couple of announcements for new mobile Pokemon games.

One of these is being made by DeNA, who’ve been teasing this project of late. Called Pokemon Masters, it will feature an all-stars cast of Pokemon trainers who’ve been featured in the games across the years. You’ll battle with and against these trainers, while a press release for the game’s announcement describes its gameplay experience as being “optimized for smart devices for a casual but uniquely Pokémon experience.” More information on the game will follow in June.

Then there’s Pokemon Sleep, which is more an app than a game, and is being handled by Select Button, and will be receiving more information “at a later date”. Due out next year, this app “tracks a user’s time sleeping and brings a gameplay experience unlike any other”. Finally, The Pokemon Company also unveiled Pokemon GO Plus +, which is part a regular Pokemon Go Plus, and part something new, and will track the user’s sleep at night. Niantic are confirmed to be helping out with development.

Meanwhile, if all you care about is Pokemon Sword and Shield, don’f fear- fifteen minutes of new information and gameplay on the Switch games will be released during a Direct Presentation on June 5.
