Nintendo have announced via their official Twitter handle that less than a week before their E3 Direct, they will be holding another Direct presentation, dedicated entirely to the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield

The Direct presentation will be livestreamed on June 5 at 6 a.m. PT, and will run for roughly fifteen minutes, containing new information on and footage from the game. Beyond what we learned of the game back when it was announced earlier this year, Nintendo haven’t said much else, other than how it will go back to being a handheld-focused experience, so it’ll be interesting to see what they reveal (it also looks like this is the information that will be in next month’s CoroCoro issue).

The timing of this Direct presentation is particularly interesting, because as mentioned earlier, it takes place merely days before Nintendo’s big E3 blowout. With this and the recent Super Mario Maker 2 Direct presentation, it definitely looks like they’re freeing up space for something else to take centerstage at E3- Animal Crossing, perhaps? It’s still supposed to launch this year, as per Nintendo, so it seems likely.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are also due out later this year exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, but do not currently have a set release date- though in all likelihood, it’ll be announced on June 5. Stay tuned for all the coverage.
