Capcom has revealed their financial results for the fiscal year which ended on March 31st 2013. The results seem to meet the publishers expectations with the exception of Resident Evil 6.

Overall net sales happen to reach 94.1 billion yen (£613m), which ups the percentage by 14.6 compared to last year. Meanwhile, the net profit was dropped by 55.8% year-on-year to three billion yen (£19.6m).

Resident Evil 6 managed to sell 4.9 units, which didn’t satisfy the publisher’s original sales forecast which was 7 million units. Despite the failed Resident Evil 6 sales, Dragon’s Dogma surpassed Capcom’s expectations with sales of 1.3 million; also the long-awaited reboot Devil May Cry sold a “solid” 1.1 million copies, the game has “stable popularity in overseas markets”.

The new fiscal year has begun, Capcom hopes to have net sales of 97 billion yen (£632) along with a net profit of 6.8 billion yen (£44.3m). Capcom recently stated that they decided to kill of several internal projects after the lower-than-expected sales that games like Resident evil 6 received in order to increase internal development. They said, “In order to lower development costs and shorten time frame for development, Capcom will restructure its development organisations, which are the core parts of the company’s business, increasing ratio of in-house developments by focusing on the overhaul of overseas development companies.”

In its latest issue, Play Magazine UK revealed the top software sales for the PS Vita, revealing that Uncharted: Golden Abyss has performed admirably, selling 530,000 units worldwide. It was not specified if the figures given included digital sales.

These sales also do not include the 100,000+ units of Gravity Rush sold in Japan (or Gravity Daze, as it is known there), probably because the game doesn’t come out in the west until later this month.

The Media Create sales charts for the week ending February 5 have been released. Resident Evil: Revelations topped the software sales with 43,575 units sold and SoulCalibur 5 for the PS3 took a close second with 34,328.

Armored Core V, which topped the sales last week was at No. 5, selling 30,775 copies. The “other three” mega 3DS games- Mario Kart 7 (26,791), Monster Hunter Tri G (24,128) and Super Mario 3D Land (22,817)- retained their spots in the top 10 at 6, 7 and 8 respectively.

On the hardware side of things, it was all very predictable. The 3DS topped the charts, as expected. It sold 75,018, down from 85K last week. The PS3 came in second with over 23,000 units, and the PS Vita fell down about a thousand units, coming in at No .3 with 17,141 units sold.

Media Create has released the hardware and software sales for Japan for the week ending January 29. As always, the 3DS has topped the hardware charts, selling 84,789 units, about 4,000 units more than what it sold last week. The PS Vita saw a rise of only 3,000 units, but a rise nonetheless, and sold 18,942, finally managing to sell more than the PSP.

On the software side of things, Armored Core V for the PS3 made a strong debut, topping the charts by selling 163,906 units. Resident Evil: Revelations also had an impressive opening week with 146,559 units sold.

Tales of Innocence R, also a newcomer, beat Mario Kart 7 to the third spot (the latter is at #4) and sold 54,853 copies.

Super Mario 3D Land, which has been at the top (or near the top) of all charts- 3DS and all formats- ever since it came out in November, has now sold 5 million units, becoming the first 3DS game to reach the milestone. Mario Kart 7 is close behind, with 4,540,000 copies sold.

The third best selling game of the 3DS is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, selling 2,490,000 since its release last June. Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri G is the fourth highest selling 3DS game, selling over a million units.

Nintendo also announced that DS titles New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS have also created records, with the former selling 28,740,000  unitsand the latter selling 22,300,000 units.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which came out in November last year, has sold 3,420,000 million copies globally. Wii Sports, now the Wii’s best selling game, has sold a whopping 79,160,000 copies, counting the millions of copies it must have sold when it was bundled with all Wiis. Bundled or not, this is an impressive figure indeed.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii also impress, having sold 25,470,000, 29,870,000 and 31,910,000 units respectively.

Nintendo recently announced plans to release a New Super Mario Bros. game for the 3DS. It will be out before April next year.

The Media Create sales for the week January 16- January 22 are out, and the 3DS has topped the hardware charts as usual, selling nearly 81,000 units. Mario Kart 7 topped the software charts, selling a little over 35,000 units.

It’s surprising to see, however, that the Vita has plummeted even lower after its abysmal sales last week, selling only a little over 15K units this time around, below the PS3 and PSP.

The Media Create sales for the week ending January 15 are out, and the figures are shocking. The PS Vita, which was already performing poorly, selling only 42K units in the last two weeks, has dropped to an all new low, selling only 18,000 units. All other systems saw a massive drop is sales as well, with 3DS taking the lead with 100,000 units sold.

Sony needs to do something quick, because the sales just keep dropping and these figures are pretty disappointing.

On the software front, Namco Bandai’s new PSP game Super Robot Taise OG Saga Masou Kishin II topped the charts, selling 81,996, and Mario Kart 7 and Monster Hunter Tri G came in next, selling 52,266 units and 44,644 respectively.

NPD has released the annual sales figures for 2011 for the region of US, and as everyone must have expected, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the largest selling game, topping the list and beating heavyweights such as Elder Scrolls, Assassin’s Creed and Battlefield. This comes as no surprise, especially after it was announced earlier this week that Modern Warfare 3 was also the highest selling game of 2011 in UK.

It beat its direct competitor, Battlefield 3, by a fairly large margin, which came in at the 4th position. Other expected entries were The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations at 10, Batman: Arkham City at 7 and Gears of War 3 at 8.

Even Treyarch’s 2010 iteration of the CoD franchise, Black Ops, featured on the list, coming in at No. 6.

Just Dance 3 at 2, Madden NFL 12 at 5 and Just Dance 2 at 9 rounded off the top 10.

Total retail software sales for the year went down by 8%, grossing $9.27 billion.

UKIE has revealed the software sales charts for the entire year of 2011 for UK, and surprise- the highest selling game is not, contrary to what many expected, FIFA 12. No, the highest selling game of 2011 in UK was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. With less than two months on the shelves, that’s impressive. This is the third year in a row that Call of Duty has topped this chart, with Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 and Black Ops in 2010.

FIFA 12 took the second place, and Battlefield 3 came in at number 3. Other not-so-surprising entires include Zumba Fitness- which topped the UK charts for several weeks before Deus Ex: Human Revolution came out-, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City, at 4, 7, 5 and 10 respectively.

Just Dance 3 at 6, L.A. Noire at 8 and Saints Row: The Third at 9 rounded off the top 10.
