The best gaming records you need to check out.

You gotta respect the kind of effort that goes into being the best in the world at something, and that kind of effort certainly deserves recognition. The kind of people who can organize the world’s largest tournaments or can say they’ve played the longest gaming session ever recorded are certainly something. We’re not here for those ones. We’re here to talk about some of the stranger ones, so buckle up and be sure to discuss your favourite below.

Jesse Moerkerk – Longest Game Session In Freefall

Some might say that Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the gravity mechanics within are out of this world, but gamer Jesse Moerkerk took that a bit more seriously than Nintendo intended when in 2011, he spent 18 minutes and 52 seconds within an indoor sky dive playing the game mid free fall. The 6’5” man was said to be very graceful while remaining suspended, though I imagine the waggling of the Wii Remote could have easily sent him into a tailspin.

Nvidia have launched a new driver for its GPUs; according to the changelog, this new driver includes game specific patches for the upcoming Street Fighter 5 and Hitman, both of which are major titles launching on PC in the coming month.

Of these, Hitman, especially, looks graphically stunning at times, and so probably needs game specific drivers the most. Street Fighter 5, on the other hand, is probably getting full support from Capcom to ensure that it doesn’t have a disastrous launch like so many PC ports from Japanese publishers often do.

In addition to these two upcoming games, the new driver update also includes a new SLI profile for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which should offer better SLI scaling for that title- something that the game has famously struggled with so far, as well as new profiles for XCOM 2 and Need for Speed.

When Street Fighter 5 launches this Friday, it will launch with only 16 characters in the roster- but more will be added over time as parts of updates and DLC. The first one of these has already been confirmed- Alex, who will be joining the Street Fighter 5 roster in March, Capcom confirmed today.

More characters are anticipated to join the Street Fighter 5 roster, including other fan favorites who didn’t make the cut from the previous games in the franchise- although of course, exact details are still nebulous and unknown. It is also unknown whether Alex will be allowed at EVO this year, but on the whole, considering his early availability to the community, I don’t see any reason why he would be excluded after all.

Street Fighter 5 is the fifth entry in Capcom’s long running flagship fighting game franchise. It will be launching on February 12 on the PlayStation 4 and PC exclusively, with no other version expected.

I was wrong.

Okay, so remember how we reported yesterday that Street Fighter 5 has a file size of just 6.4GB? That made us really happy- after all, a current generation game that doesn’t take out a sizable chunk of our storage space is a rarity these days. Turns out, however, that we jumped the gun on that- the 6.4GB download? That’s just the initial client. You end up downloading another 6GB after that to add up to a full total of 12.4GB.

12.4GB is, of course, still really small- once again, there was a Witcher 3 patch that was 18GB- this is a full game that comes in at two thirds of that file size. On the other hand, it seems to be par for the course with other fighters this generation- Super Smash Bros. came in at about 16GB, for example.

On the whole, 12.4GB is still not much to complain about. And since we already know that the game is going to be loaded with content thanks to frequent updates, we don’t need to worry about paying a lot for very little, either.

Capcom is going above and beyond.

Street Fighter V, the latest installment in Capcom’s long running fighting game saga, is almost here. The game is shaping to be probably one of the greatest fighting games of all time, given its mechanical splendor, and just how viable it seems to be for competitive and tournament level play; but if you are a primarily single player guy, Capcom has you covered too, as today, in a new blog post on Capcom Unity, they discussed some story details for the title.

“There are two main components to the story experience: Character Stories and the Cinematic Story Expansion,” Capcom said. “We knew there would be a lot of new players who are jumping into the franchise for the very first time so we wanted to provide a way for everyone to become familiar with the eclectic personalities of each fighter. Each character has their own storyline that provides background information on what drives them to fight, and what their relationships are to the other characters.”

Capcom further said that each character’s story has been illustrated by renowned Japanese illustrator, Bengus.

“For the first time in franchise history, we are creating a cinematic story experience that takes players deep into the Street Fighter action and mythology through beautifully rendered cutscenes,” Capcom said. “The Story Expansion will be available to all players as a FREE content update, releasing in June 2016. Chronologically in the Street Fighter storyline, it takes place between the events of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, and fully explains everything that transpired in that electrifying time period.”

The story expansion, then, appears to be the major story and narrative component of the game; it won’t be available right at launch, but you should be able to get it for free by June. Capcom also released a new trailer for this cinematic story campaign, that you can see for yourself below.

Finally, the timings for the last beta for Street Fighter V have also been announced. The final beta starts on January 30, 12:01am PT, and ends January 31 at 7 PM PT. You can pre-order at streetfighter.com/purchase for beta access.

Street Fighter V launches exclusively on PS4 and PC.

It seems like only yesterday that Street Fighter 5 was announced- and now, it is almost here. Street Fighter 5 launches in just a few months from now, and Capcom is now busy nailing down all the details of the game’s launch. Today, they announced special editions for the game, at least in Japan.

There will be two Special Editions for the title- the Volcanic Edition will cost 12,990 yen. It includes six DLC Battle Costumes for Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison and Cammy, 1500 Zenny which is the in-game currency), a 60 minute DVD, a Visionary book, and more.

Meanwhile, the Valuable Edition costs 11,990 yen, but it has less in-game currency, and it lacks two costumes for Ryu and Chun-Li.

If you are interested in checking these editions out for yourself, you can see both at the official Japanese store. Neither of these editions have yet been confirmed for a western launch, though it is almost certainly only a matter of time.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information on the game.

Now that we know the full roster for Street Fighter V – at least the starting roster, anyway – it seems as though a lot of fan favorite characters are not making the cut into the game. This has disappointed a lot of long time series fans, who were presumably hoping they would be able to play with their characters in the next entry of the storied franchise too.

However, during an interview with Famitsu (translated by Siliconera), producer Yoshinori Ono answered a few questions on why a lot of fan favorite fighters, like Sagat or Blanca, were missing from the game.

“It’s because there are many characters that perform similarly. For this launch and its next update, we wanted to have a good balance of characters. Since we didn’t want to just blindly increase the number of characters, it was a bitter decision that had to be made.”

“I understand that there are also many who wish to see other characters besides Sagat, such as Blanka and more. There’s a possibility that we may add more characters in some form later, so please look forward to that.”

Like Ono himself said, the possibility is that they will add the other characters later, through DLC- which is reasonable enough. Hopefully they don’t charge too much for them.

Beat em up.

One of the many ways in which Street Fighter V is differentiated from the Street Fighter IV games is in its emphasis on the roster- more specifically, in its emphasis on reducing the number of playable characters. Street Fighter V will have a far fewer number of characters to start out with, but it will attempt to provide more technical variation across the board with those characters.

It’s been exciting seeing which characters will make it into the game’s significantly downsized roster, but now that we do know, it’s time for a brand new trailer that showcases all of them in one stylish montage. This new trailer features all 16 of the starting characters in the game, beating the ever loving crap out of one another. Check it out for yourself below.

Street Fighter V will be out exclusively on the PC and PlayStation 4 next year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.

'This isn't a game, it's a set of tools for players to express themselves with.'

Street Fighter V will be the fifth entry in the long running fighting game series. It is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC next year, against all odds, and the new game will focus on constant evolution and iteration via a stream of updates, as opposed to multiple discrete releases, as well as a smaller number of fighters, but with more technical variation.

According to Yoshinori Ono, producer of the game, Street Fighter V will hopefully be a game that evens the competitive playing field, and forces players to relearn combat all over again. He mentioned that the development team is not approaching the development of the title as a game, as much as a toolset to be handed to the players, which they can explore and learn to express themselves with.

Given just massively successful Street Fighter IV and its follow ups were, Street Fighter V has some big shoes to fill- thankfully, going by the beta tests, it appears as though it may be able to do just that.

Yoshinori Ono says there's plenty of time to save $300 and play Street Fighter V.

Street Fighter V producer Yoshinori Ono recently gave an interview with GameSpot in which he outright told Xbox One users they should go out and buy a PS4. The producer said this way, they will be able to play Street Fighter V when it finally comes out. While there was once talk the game will eventually be coming to the Xbox One, Capcom has come out and said the game will be exclusive to Sony’s console and the PC for the title’s lifetime.

The company has made a number of comments about why it chose to go with Sony over Microsoft and Ono laid out at least one more. In the interview, he hinted that putting the game on the PS4 has allowed Capcom to offer balance updates for free for the first time. “For the first time in franchise history we’re going to allow all balance adjustments to be available free of charge, so we’re treating it as a platform,” Ono said, discussing the benefits of working with the platform holder. “If you purchase the game, you’ll be able to upgrade to the content throughout its lifespan and you’re never going to be punished if you take a break from playing the game.”

While Ono said that gamers have plenty of time to go out and get themselves a PS4, time is actually running out if they want to play the game on launch day. Street Fighter V is due to hit the PS4 and PC on February 16, 2016, before the game hits read out our Wiki and study up on the game.
