The game is slated to feature horror entities from just about any scary story you might have seen, from movies to creepypasta.

Developer Grey State Studio and publisher Tencent Games have announced a new free-to-play horror-themed tactical shooter, dubbed Rules of Engagement: The Grey State. The title doesn’t yet have a full release date aside from a 2026 window, and is being developed for PC. It will be available in China through WeGame, and in the rest of the world through Steam and Epic Games Store. Check out the trailer below.

The official reveal trailer doesn’t really reveal much in the way of gameplay. However, it does give us a look at the general tone that Rules of Engagement: The Grey State will be going for, with players making use of realistic weapons and equipment took take on otherworldly horrors that have been inspired by a wide range of works from the genre. It is slated to be a co-op title for up to three players, and while the trailer doesn’t give any indications of PvP, the title has been confirmed to be a PvPvE extraction shooter.

The wide range of enemies that players will undoubtedly have to deal with throughout their time with Rules of Engagement: The Grey State range from cosmic horror entities that were seemingly inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, to more modern, industrial beings that are a strange fusion of flesh and metal. Grey State Studio has described the title’s primary setting as being set in a “unique Horrorverse”, which indicates that no horror inspiration will be left untouched by the game.

Even the description of Rules of Engagement: The Grey State indicates that the “Horrorverse” of the title will involve nightmarish creatures adapted from movies, books, and even creepypasta. “This isn’t just one horror story, it’s all of them,” wrote the developer.

As for the story, players are put into the shoes of a Strider – an elite operative that has been hired by a secretive organisation to set out into The Grey State, which has been described as a dimension filled with horrific monsters and alien artifacts. Players will have to team up with their friends to try and retrieve a priceless artifact dubbed The Vertex.

Rules of Engagement: The Grey State is slated to get an alpha playtest, where it will feature three of its playable classes – Sledge, Pyro and Phantom. While Sledge has been described as being an unstoppable juggernaut equipped with a shield and hammer, the Pyro will instead be an agent of chaos that can make use of fire and gas to control the battlefield. The Phantom, on the other hand, will be an assassin-styled character that can take out enemies from the shadows.

While Rules of Engagement: The Grey State will be a free-to-play game, Grey State Studio has confirmed that its monetisation will revolve purely around cosmetic items. As the company has noted, players will not be able to buy their way into getting more powerful. Rather, they will have to play the game to acquire new gear.

There has been no word yet on whether Rules of Engagement: The Grey State will eventually make its way on to consoles for now.

It’s been a while since TiMi Studio Group’s Honor of Kings: World received any updates, and while there’s still no release date, some new action-packed gameplay is available. Co-op is showcased with four players working together to take on overwhelming bosses. Watch it all unfold below.

Coming to PC and consoles, Honor of Kings: World was announced in 2001 and sees players embarking on a new story in the MOBA’s universe. As a Jixia Academy student, you’ll encounter various heroes and venture through the world, encountering various dangers and learning more about “the Flow.” Combat is real-time, and players can switch between two unique fighting styles.

While the general public won’t get their hands on it anytime soon, Gamescom attendees can play the action RPG for the first time at Hall 9, Booth B040 from August 20th to 24th on PC. For even more gameplay, head here. It’s also worth noting that despite co-op support, Honor of Kings: World is playable solo with AI companions.

The civilized world is still a memory in Tencent's base-builder, but the Aloy lookalike and robot elephants have been removed.

When Light of Motiram, Tencent’s new base-building survival co-op title, was first announced, it immediately received criticism for its resemblance to Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series. Sony seemingly thought so as well, suing the company for what it called a “slavish Horizon clone.”

Several days later, it seems Tencent is in the process of reducing the similarities. Its Steam page, once showcasing an Aloy-like figure and robot elephants (seen above), has been updated to remove both. Any mention of “colossal machines” is also gone; however, it’s still set in a world where “civilization is a distant memory”, with “primal cultures” and “extreme weather” that will test one’s survival skills.

Whether this will be enough for Sony to drop its lawsuit remains to be seen. As such, Light of Motiram, developed by Polaris Quest, is out in Q1 2027, and it could distance itself even further. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, the same lawsuit revealed that the Horizon series has sold over 38 million units thus far. Guerrilla Games hasn’t announced a sequel, but it’s allegedly “a ways off.” An online title, reportedly developed with NCSoft, is also seemingly in the works.

The latest trailer for Light of Motiram also shows off plenty of gameplay, both against normal enemies as well as boss fights.

Aurora Studio and Polaris Quest have released a new trailer for upcoming survival game Light of Motiram. The minute-long trailer, which you can check out below, showcases gameplay from its Outcast Forest zone.

Along with giving us a look at the zone in general, the trailer also shows off some of the more unique aspects of gameplay in Light of Motiram. This includes the ability to put on a helmet that allows players to take control one of the many robotic creatures from the game.

In terms of the in-game story, the Outcast Forest has been described by the developers as a woodland area where convicts of the Dariman Tribe are exiled. This means that most of the characters that players encounter in the area will likely be hardened criminals, rather than friendly allies.

Towards the back half of the trailer, we also get glimpses at several of the game’s boss fights against its robot beasts. The boss fights shown in the trailer look like they would be fairly intricate in terms of mechanics that players have to deal with, as well as overall level of challenge.

Back in November, the game was the subject of criticism for how similar it looked to Guerrilla Games’ Horizon franchise. While Light of Motiram does have its own unique features, such as the survival gameplay that includes base-building as well as support for co-op multiplayer, its Mechanimals do bear quite a bit of resemblance to the robotic wildlife we’ve seen from the Horizon games.

Despite these similarities, however, neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games have made any comments about the matter. Both of the companies’ silence likely means that Light of Motiram won’t be seeing any legal action taken against it.

Light of Motiram is currently in development for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, iOS and Android. The game doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, but it is available to wishlist on online stores. When it comes out later this year, Light of Motiram will be a free-to-play game.

The survival mechanics will play a key role in Light of Motiram, with players needing to gather various materials that they can then use to build up their base and also create new equipment. According to the game’s description, it will make use of realistic physics simulations to power its freeform building system. Players will have quite a bit of freedom in how they build their base, with examples even showing off elaborate tree houses among an otherwise-normal town.

Owing to its emphasis on the ecosystem created by the Mechanimals roaming around its world, Light of Motiram will also allow players to befriend and take control of these mechanical beasts. Through this, players will also have the ability to customise their Mechanimals with new weapons and improvements to other parts.

Light of Motiram also promises seamless online multiplayer, allowing players to jump in and out of each others games without having to worry about matching up their progression. Through co-op, players can take part in every activity together, from partaking in epic hunts to just building out a massive home base together. The game will also support cross-play.

"We actually provide quite a lot of a single-player experience," says TiMi Studio Group's Simon, who called the multiplayer "non-invasive."

Announced in November 2021, TiMi Studio Group’s Honor of Kings: World has been a long time coming. Updates have been sporadic, but Tencent hosted a behind-closed-doors playtest at last month’s GDC 2025, allowing media members to go hands-on. Impressions have slowly trickled out since about the “multiplayer adventure RPG,” but lead designer Simon revealed to WCCF Tech that it’s still entirely playable solo.

When asked about the same, he replied, “You can if you want. We actually provide quite a lot of a single-player experience. It’s an option. We provide a non-invasive multiplayer experience for you. At some point, it’s always convenient to play with others. Let’s say that you feel like a boss fight is too difficult. As a player, you can always call for help, but it’s not going to be disruptive.”

Matchmaking with similarly ranked players is available when heading into a dungeon, though it’s unknown if there are any restrictions. Of course, you can also bring in AI companions, which Simon describes as an “assistant function.”

“If you can’t find a friend or just want to play alone, then there are options for AI companions in the dungeons or stuff like that. So it’s more like an accessible assistant function to that.” It’s unknown if you can temporarily recruit other players’ characters as support units with the AI controlling them.

Amid all the new details, Honor of Kings: World still lacks a release date, with the development team “working really hard to bring it online as soon as possible.” Private playtests are ongoing, and the title is coming to consoles and PC. Stay tuned for more details, and check out the latest trailer here.

A new gameplay trailer is available, highlighting co-op, while the official website outlines various environments in Jixia.

Almost four years since its official reveal, going from a Monster Hunter-esque title to something more Genshin-like, Honor of Kings: World is coming to GDC 2025. No, there’s no release date and outside of “consoles and PC,” specific platforms have yet to be revealed. However, there is some new work-in-progress gameplay showcasing co-op and some new enemies.

TiMi Studio Group has confirmed a behind-closed-doors playtest for registered media members. The official website is also live, outlining different locations in Jixia, including the Tower of Enlightenment in Jixia Academy, the Springbrook Plains with its ancient ruins and wetlands, and the mountains.

There are also more dangerous places like Dragon Valley (which gets its name from the remains of a giant dragon) and Caelumpila Ruinsaa, previously a soldier enhancement facility with untold secrets.

It’s all very intriguing, though time will tell if we’re any closer to a release. Stay tuned for potential updates in the coming days, and check out more gameplay here.

Jixia is full of places to be, including towns and ruins, and creatures to tussle with en route to accessing the "Wonder."

Tencent Games’ Honor of Kings: World has received a new gameplay trailer, revealing even more of the open-world action RPG’s mechanics. Players venture to an impressive city and meet companions before journeying into Jixia’s wilds to resolve a crisis, specifically to access the “Wonder.” Check it out below.

Jixia is host to various creatures and ruins, and despite its size, there are ways to get around, like zip lines (with a glider also spotted at one point). Some locations include what seems to be a wrecked ship, a giant mech and a town area with vendors. Of course, plenty of danger also awaits, like Yuange, who uses Mechcraft to control puppets and fight with strings.

It all looks impressive with the stamina bar and character switching akin to miHoYo Games’ Genshin Impact (which is a significant change from when it first had Monster Hunter-like combat). However, there’s no release date or platforms for Honor of Kings: World, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.

Players can traverse the world using a glider, grappling hook, and hoverboard, while enemies include tree-like beings and wild beasts.

Last year, TiMi Studio Group and Tencent Games announced Honor of Kings: World, an open-world action RPG spin-off of its popular MOBA. Over a year later, a new work-in-progress gameplay trailer has been released, and it looks much faster-paced than the previous Monster Hunter-esque showing. Check it out below.

Story-wise, not much is revealed, save for players embarking “on a journey that will captivate your eyes and heart.” There is “a colorful cast of characters” and “long-lost ruins” to explore, along with numerous skills to master. The player is seemingly looking for a relic which can grant “the answer.” With a story written by Liu Cixin of The Three-Body Problem series, it’s worth keeping an eye on.

Aside from that, several new weapons are showcased, like dual blades, a straight sword, and even a weird frame that allows for hovering and firing rockets. New enemies, including a Teostra-esque foe that spews fire, and a massive tree-like being, are also showcased. In addition to using a glider of sorts to navigate the world, players can also grapple and employ a hoverboard.

Honor of Kings: World will release for multiple platforms worldwide, but a release window and specific platforms haven’t been mentioned. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Fans of martial arts stories, rejoice. At its recent game conference, Tencent Games announced Code: To Jin Yong, an upcoming open world action game based on martial arts, and inspired by the wuxia novels of legendary Chinest author Jin Yong- as the game’s title may have given away.

Billed as a tribute to the author and based on the world created by him, Code: To Jin Yong will feature slick melee combat and swordfighting duels, though it looks like some fantastical elements will also find their way into the experience. The gameplay footage shown off in the game’s debut trailer shows two characters going up against each other, and while their encounter is largely melee-based, we see some magical and elemental abilities used by both sides as well. Check out the trailer below.

Code: To Jin Yong is being built on Unreal Engine 5, and developed by Lightspeed Studios, the team behind PUBG Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile. There’s no word yet on when the game will launch or what platforms it will be available for.

Developed by TiMi Studio Group, the open world action RPG is planned for simultaneous release on "multiple platforms" worldwide.

Tencent Games’ Honor of Kings is expanding beyond the MOBA space. The publisher has announced Honor of Kings: World, an open world action RPG developed by TiMi Studio Group. It will release simultaneously on multiple platforms worldwide though a release window wasn’t provided. Check out the first trailer below courtesy of WadaGames on YouTube.

The game seems to lean into Monster Hunter-style battles against enormous monsters with quick dodging and weapon switching. There’s even an AI partner to help out. Perhaps most interesting, however, is that the companies will be collaborating with sci-fi author Liu Cixin. Cixin is best known for The Three-Body Problem series of novels among other works.

Given the popularity of Honor of Kings – which reportedly averages 100 million daily active players worldwide as per the developer – a big-budget spin-off for other platforms seemed a given. The question now is whether the actual gameplay will look as impressive as the trailer. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
