The Outer Worlds was a solid return to a type of RPG many were craving. It’s rumored that a sequel is already in the works, and DLC for the titles is still coming. The game also got a Switch version, but up until now it was unclear if the expansions would make its way to the hybrid version. Well, it seems they will.

Peril on Gorgon, the first expansion that released on other platforms in September of last year, is now available for Switch. It’s a bit late, obviously, but it was probably a bit more work to get everything ported down for Nintendo’s system. The DLC sees you and your crew going to the Gorgon Asteroid after getting a strange message and finding yourself in the middle of a lot of bad dealings, as you’d expect.

The Outer Worlds and Peril on Gorgon are available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. The second expansion, Murder on Eridanos, has been announced for PS4, Xbox One and PC for sometime in March and presumably at a later date for the Switch.

Obsidian Entertainment’s first paid expansion for The Outer Worlds is now live with Peril on Gorgon. It sees the player and their crew traveling to the Gorgon Asteroid at the behest of a strange message. Upon reaching the location, they encounter the Ambrose family and learn more about the strange projects that Spacer’s Choice was involved with.

Featuring about 8 to 10 hours of gameplay, Peril on Gorgon sees players encountering new characters, investigating new environments and battling mutated foes. There are three new weapons to indulge in like the Pest Extermination Tool or P.E.T. New perks and flaws have also been added along with new armor sets.

Couple this with an increased level cap and new gear variants, and there’s quite a bit to chew through in this new expansion. Peril on Gorgon is one of two paid expansions available for the game – the second is expected to release next year. Peril on Gorgon, the first of two paid expansions coming to The Outer Worlds, is out next week. While some gameplay footage emerged over the weekend at Gamescom, even more has emerged courtesy of IGN. The initial 14 minutes of the DLC is showcased, as the player travels to Gorgon and encounters some new characters like Wilhelmina Ambrose.

Available after completing the mission “Radio Free Monarch”, the DLC sees players venturing to Gorgon to investigate a strange conspiracy. Gorgon is essentially a large asteroid and was once a research center for the brand Spacer’s Choice. What nefarious secrets will the player discover and how does the Ambrose family play in?

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon is out on September 9th for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Though the exact breadth of content isn’t known, Obsidian Entertainment promises a substantial amount, from new armor and perks to weapons and flaws. It will retail for $15, while the expansion pass costs $25 and grants access to the future second DLC as well.

Obsidian Entertainment’s sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds immediately became a fan-favourite when it came out this year, and if you’ve had a hankering for more of what it delivered, you’ll be getting that soon. Peril on Gorgon, the first of its two planned expansions, releases in just a little over a week, and recently, Obsidian released an extensive gameplay walkthrough to drop crucial details on it.

With developer commentary from the DLC’s game director Carrie Patel, the video shows over 11 minutes of gameplay footage. It sets up the expansion’s central narrative premise (and reveals some story details while doing so, so avoid watching it if you want to go into it blind), while also showcasing some of the environments, combat, choices, and more the expansion will bring. The Outer Worlds is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Peril on Gorgon will be releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 9. A Nintendo Switch release for the DLC is also planned, but doesn’t yet have a release date.

Last year saw the release of two different games with names that saw them endlessly get confused: The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment and Outer Wilds by indie developer Mobius Digital. They were both great games, but in very different ways, and now in a twist of what must be destiny, the two have had a behind-the-scenes crossover.

Earlier today at the Xbox Games Showcase, we got a trailer for the upcoming expansion to The Outer Worlds, Peril of Gorgon. Shortly after, Kelsey Beachum, Writer and Narrative Designer for Outer Wilds went to their official Twitter to say they wrote for the DLC. It’s not clear what position or role Beachum had, but they can put on their resume they’ve worked on both.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon will launch September 9th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. As of now, no word on when the expansion will come to the Switch version. Outer Wilds is available on the same platforms.

The “special message” from Spacer’s Choice has been revealed and it’s, unsurprisingly, an expansion reveal for The Outer Worlds. Peril on Gorgon releases on September 9th for PS4, Xbox One and PC, retailing for $14.99. Players will venture to the Gorgon Asteroid and learn more about the origins of Adrena-Time.

Billed as a “noir-tinged adventure,” Peril on Gorgon will feature new weapons, armor and Perks along with new flaws for players to embrace. You can still expect the same level of freedom as the base game, which could point to more than one conclusion to this tale. Just make sure that you’ve progressed beyond Monarch in order to access it.

Interestingly, Peril on Gorgon is only the first expansion coming for The Outer Worlds. A second is also in development and you can own them both by purchasing the expansion pass. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can avail of a 10 percent discount on the same, which comes to $24.99 for both expansions. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
