It was earlier today when we got confirmation that last year’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, a remastering of the first two games in the storied skateboarding franchise, would be coming to more platforms, specifically the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and the Switch. While the Switch version unfortunately did not get a date, it did get some footage.

Provided via IGN and Activision, we got roughly three minutes of the remaster running on Nintendo’s hybrid. By and large, it looks pretty solid even if there is a clear visual downgrade to current versions. It also does seem to be running at 30 FPS, as opposed to 60, though the performance seems solid enough in this small clip.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 26th. The date for the Switch version of the game has not yet been determined.

Activision were recently teasing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 for additional platforms, and now, they’ve officially made that announcement. The collection of the highly acclaimed remakes for last year is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. It will release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 26, and for Nintendo Switch later on in the year, with a specific date for the latter yet to be confirmed.

On the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will have two visual modes- one will run the game at a native 4K and 60 FPS, and the other at 1080p and 120 FPS. The Xbox Series S version of the game will have the same options, though the mode favouring resolution will instead render at 1440p and be upscaled to 4K. Meanwhile, Activision is also promising “sharper dynamic shadows, reflections and lens flares, as well as enhanced skater textures and more.”

Those who already own the game digitally on PS4 and Xbox One can upgrade to the Cross-Gen Bundle for an additional $10. In addition to the game’s next-gen version, this will also unlock access for the secret skater Ripper, retro gear for Create-A-Skater mode, and retro skins for Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, and Rodney Mullen. Those who already own the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game on current-gen platforms, however, will get the next-gen version of the game for free.

Recently, Activision also confirmed that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time would also be releasing for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC soon. Read more on that through here.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 launches not long from now, giving fans the opportunity to jump back into a classic video game franchise through two remakes. Notably enough, it’s not releasing for the Nintendo Switch- however, it’s possible that a Switch version is in the pipeline and will be coming eventually.

Over on Twitter, @DarthBellic has discovered configurations for Switch controllers in the files of the remake’s recent demo. The fact that the game has configuration files for the Switch Pro Controller doesn’t necessarily have to mean anything, since the game will also be available on PC, where the Switch Pro Controller is natively supported on most platforms. However, interestingly enough, there’s also files for the Switch Joy-Con controllers, which lends greater credence to the assumption that the remake will be coming to the Switch (which isn’t that hard to believe in the first place, frankly).

Activison have yet to say anything about a possible Switch version for the game, so for now, take this with a grain of salt. But if they follow the same pattern as Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy – both of which eventually made their way to the Switch after launch – a Switch announcement of Tony Hawk might not be far away.
