Fighting games aren’t for the weak of heart. Yes, you could hop into a game like Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball FighterZ or Street Fighter 5 and get by on some basic inputs. But properly mastering all the different combos and set-ups takes time. Then you have those combos which exist for no other reason than to destroy your motivation. Let’s take a look at 9 of them here.

Leona Trial 10 – The King of Fighters 13

The Trials in The King of Fighters 13 represent a fine line between testing your skill and outright destroying your hand. Leona Heidern’s Trial 10 is a good example. It consists of 16 hits with the need to transition from a Moon Slasher to a Baltic Launcher by canceling out of the latter not once, not twice but three times in a row. Then you have to execute and cancel out of a Grand Saber run, perform the Moon Slasher to Baltic Launcher inputs again, execute a V-Slasher – an in-air Desperation Move that requires one directional quarter circle followed by a half-circle and either Low or High Punch – before ending with a Leona Blade Neomax, which is another quarter circle followed a half-circle into a Low or High Punch. Got all that? Naturally, you need to be frame perfect, especially with the cancels, to pull it off properly.

Sony has just announced that the PS4 version of Ultra Street Fighter 4 is now compatible with the PS3 Fight Sticks. Writing on the official Playstation Blog, Gio Corsi director of third-party production at Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that the team had incorporated drivers from Lab Zero so that the PS4 version of the game would work with PS3 Fighting Sticks as well as the new PS4 Fighting Sticks.

This move appears to be a nod towards the hardcore fans of the series who weren’t particularly excited to be having to invest in brand new fighting sticks for a whole new console. This isn’t the first time this kind of workaround has been used, as Lab Zero worked with Naughty Dog programmer John “Cowboy” in order to make it so any fighting stick would be recognized as a generic USB gamepad or joystick would work with the PS4 version of its fighting game Skullgirls Encore.

The game, which will launch next week at a price of a little over $20 is an exclusive to the PS4, much to the chagrin of many Xbox One fans of the series. Corsi let a few more details slip about the impending Ultra Street Fighter 4 release saying that it is expected to run at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. The team working on the game has also said they’ve managed to reduce the lag time of the input between the control and the action on the screen that had plagued players using the PS3. Brand new fight sticks for the PS4 run into the hundreds of dollars.

In a fairly sparse summer release period, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Remastered remains on top of the UK game charts according to the latest UKIE charts (courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track). It’s occupied the number one spot since releasing in July end.

In second place is Watch Dogs, followed by FIFA 14, Grand Theft Auto V and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The LEGO Movie Videogame is at sixth place with Minecraft: PS3 Edition in seventh and Call of Duty: Ghosts at eight. Battlefield 4 and Sniper Elite 3 round out the remaining top ten.

Capcom’s Ultra Street Fighter IV also made its debut in the UK and was met with a rather middling response at it entered the charts at number 15. The game was made available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC but it still couldn’t inspire much enthusiasm.

Things should get interesting next month when The Sims 4 and Destiny debuting. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments.

In a recent interview with VG247, senior community socialist for Capcom fighting games, Peter Rosas, teased at the release of the fifth released character in Ultra Street Fighter 4. Up until now only four characters have been released, and now we have a little bit more to go on for guessing the next character. Rosas was quoted:

“As much as I’d like to, unfortunately I can’t. If I divulge the play style of the character, I feel that all of the mystery will be taken away. All I can say is, wait till you see how we unveil her.”

From this quote we can infer that this newest character will be a female, which shortens the list of existing potential characters by around half. The word on the internet–which is purely speculation at this point–is that this character comes from the Street Fighter comics.

Additionally, Rosas informed community users that the song from Street Fighter 4, ‘Indestructible’, will not be included in Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Capcom, one of the oldest and most influential gaming companies around, has hinted that at this years San Diego Comic-Con fans can expect some exciting and “special” updates on some of their best known series titles.

Capcom is a gaming powerhouse, with an extensive list of hit games and series’. Specifically on the docket for this years Comic-Con are two titles in particular that will hit close to home for long time gamers.

First up is the always-anticipated Street Fighter update. Capcom has been regularly banging out Street Fighter updates since it’s initial release for the arcade in 1987. One of the best selling video game franchises of all time, Street Fighter has had several individual titles pull in over $1 billion in revenue for Capcom. Several titles. That’s a lot of Street Fighter love, and a lot of people who are itching to hear what’s happening next for the series.

Their next promised reveal truly hopes to be something special: A reboot of the beloved 1989 NES (1990 Gameboy) platformer, Duck Tales. The remake will feature many of the original games levels and bosses, with much additional content thrown in as well. Duck Tales Remastered will release on the Play Station Network, Xbox Live, and the Nintendo eShop.

"No plans" for the console according to producer Yoshinori Ono.

No surprises here: Ultra Street Fighter 4 has not been announced for launch on the Wii U. This doesn’t mean we won’t see any version of the same down the line but according to producer Yoshinori Ono on Twitter, there are currently no plans for bringing the game to the Wii U.

It’s somewhat understandable, given that the original Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 didn’t make their way to the Wii. The latter did find itself on the Nintendo 3DS however, and while dwindling support for third party developers could be explained as the cause, Capcom are still bringing games like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to the Wii U.

Of course, it could just be that there are more established players on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC than on the Wii U. So why take risks? Hopefully we’ll see Street Fighter 4 arrive for the console in some form or the other in the coming months.

Producer Yoshinori Ono shoots down guesses regarding the mysterious fifth.

Capcom recently announced at Evo 2013 that it would be bringing out a new version of Street Fighter 4 in early 2014, dubbed Ultra Street Fighter 4 which would bring new balances, five new characters, new stages and a heaping helping of past DLC content.

Four of the characters – Rolento, Poison, Hugo and Elena – have already been revealed. But Capcom teased that the fifth character would be brand new and never before seen in the Street Fighter series.

Naturally expectations went wild, with some people thinking that Asura from Asura’s Wrath would be the fifth character. However, producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed on Twitter that it wasn’t him. Despite the fact that we saw Crappy Mega Mean – infamous for appearing on the box art of the first few games and immediately making the Blue Bomber out to look like a creepy old man – in Street Fighter X Tekken, it’s not him/it either.

Any more guesses at this point? Our money is on Strider. Because Strider. Ultra Street Fighter 4 will be releasing on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Capcom recently announced at Evo 2013 that it would be bringing out a new version of Street Fighter 4 in early 2014, titled Ultra Street Fighter 4, and will feature tons of new content on top of the original game and Super Street Fighter 4. Even more intriguingly, you’ll be able upgrade your current version of the game for just $14.99 to avail of the new content. New users will have to pay $39.99 for the full release.

The developer also announced that the game will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. There will be five new characters added – including Poison, Hugo, Rolento, Elena and a mystery character never before seen in a Street Fighter game – along with a re-balancing of the current roster. There will also be 6 new stages, and past DLC outfits will also be included.

There will be more costumes to come though, as indicated by pre-order bonuses for the same from Udon. The Japanese version of the arcade game will also has NESiCa support, though again there’s been no announcement for a date when it will hit arcade.
