Goat Simulator

Explaining the sheer insanity that is Goat Simulator and it’s various add-ons would take too long. Playing fast and loose with physics is a given here, either due to numerous bugs or from the inanity of, say, a goat headbutting a gas station. There’s also that part where you do sick flips on a trampoline and lick a car to slingshot your goatly hide across the map. Need we say more?

In case you forgot about Origin Access among the Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus offerings this month, Electronic Arts has some new offerings for its subscription service. Jo-Mei Games’ Sea of Solitude is now available in Origin Access Basic after initially being available only in the Premier tier. It’s part of the EA Originals label along with Unravel 1 and 2 and Fe.

There’s also Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebounds, an RPG which is inspired by classics like Final Fantasy and Legend of Dragon, and Worms WMD, an excellent local multiplayer game. Origin Access Premier subscribers get Metroidvania title Mable and The Wood from Triplevision Games.

Origin Access Basic costs $4.99 while the Premier Tier costs $14.99. Along with the Vault which contains a number of older titles in the Dragon Age series, Mass Effect, FIFA and so on, the Premier tier also offers access to recent EA titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Many titles, like last year’s Anthem and Need for Speed Heat, are available a week prior to their official launch as well. Stay tuned for more details on titles to join the Origin Access library.

Whereas more and more smaller games are opting for physical releases on the Nintendo Switch over the last few weeks and months, there are still some for whom it’s not entirely viable. Team17 is presumably one of them, at least as far as Worms W.M.D. goes- because they announced today that the release of the physical version of the game for the Switch has been cancelled.

The confirmation of this came via Twitter, where the developers confirmed that the only way to play this game on the Switch would be to play it via the eShop. No reason was given for the cancellation, though, again, presumably it would be the economics of the thing (especially since cartridges cost a whole lot more than discs do).

That said, the game is still available on the Switch, and it’s a very well realized version at that- you get the base game, touchscreen and Joy-Con support, a new Space theme, Mushroom and Tree House forts in Forts mode, and multiple new customization options. If you’re interested in this kind of game, and haven’t already checked this out, be sure to do so.

We will no longer be pursuing a physical version of Worms W.M.D on Nintendo Switch.

Team17 and Playtonic have announced not one, but two brand new games in the Worms franchise- Worms 4, and Worms WMD. Worms 4 will be launching on iOS, while Worms WMD is slated for Xbox One and PC. No PS4 version has been announced for the latter, not yet, in any case. Worms WMD will feature a new 2D cartoon look with hand drawn landscapes, and it will also include vehicles implemented right into the gameplay. Worms 4, meanwhile, will feature online multiplayer as well as 80 campaign missions.

Worms WMD is slated for a 2016 release, while Worms 4 is set for an August 2015 release. Team17 will be presenting Worms WMD at the UKIE Royal Box at this year’s Gamescom. Meanwhile, you can check out screens and art for both games in the gallery below (the image above comes from Worms WMD).
