Tencent Launches Streaming App For PC Games On Smartphone

Only two games are available on the service as of now, but more are coming.

When talking about game streaming, we mostly are focused on either Google’s upcoming Stadia project or Microsoft’s xCloud. But it’s something everyone is weighing in on in some way, even Nintendo is thinking about it (we also tend to forget Sony has been doing it for good while). But today it seems a new face popped into that scene unexpectedly in the form of Chinese multimedia giant Tencent, who released a new streaming app.

The announcement was translated by Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad and it revealed that a new app was released for both iOS and Android that allowed players to stream their WeGame library from their PC. As of now only two games are supported, League of Leagues and Teamfight Tactics.

It’s certainly feels out of nowhere, but probably not that unexpected as streaming becomes more of a thing in the future for bigger companies to start dipping their toes into. More games will be streamable though the app soon, and it should begin extending to more regions in due time.
