The Crew is an upcoming ambitious open world racing game under development at Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections. The game is set in United States and to give you an idea on how big the game’s world is, it takes a mammoth ninety minutes to drive from one coast to the another.
With next gen, video game development costs will also rise as the artists and the designers will now strive to make everything more polished than last generation. So the more time they take do their job, the more the development costs. However, the PlayStation 4 with its simple architecture is apparently making things better for the development team of The Crew.
Creative Director Julian Gerigthy believes that the PlayStation 4 has helped them to do things much faster than before. Furthermore, he reveals how they plan to use the touch pad in The Crew.
“We have been fortunate because it’s an incredible piece of kit. The things that we have liked the most is the ease of development, compared to previous generations this is something that is really a big help to us and it allows us to do a lot of things much faster, than what we can do before and it comes out of the box with lots of features which I think are incredibly cool. Just the pad for example that we use to scroll the world around on the satellite view of map, that is something [important]because of iPhone and Tablets now and that is something that has almost become our part of the grammar in terms of interaction and that is of course we had to use for the interaction with the satellite map,” he said in an interview with Gamerhub.
He also praised the sharing feature of the PlayStation 4 and finds it ” incredibly useful, incredibly relevant for their audience.”
The Crew is due in 2014 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
