With the release of Tom Clancy’s The Division getting that much closer, some screenshots have hit the web that shows it appears the game’s graphics might have gotten a bit of a downgrade. DSO Gaming took a long look at the trailers that were released back then and more recently and helpfully points out some issues that seem to have popped up since the game was first announced back in 2013.
The website points out that it’s hard to compare the actual texture of the screens, since they were all taken off of trailers from YouTube. Despite that fact, there are a couple of things you can see when it comes to a downgrading in the lighting and other touches that made the game look more realistic. Shadows appear to have been removed and lighting sources have been changed to a point where they simply aren’t as dynamic as they were and could have been. The real question then, at this point is why in the world, the game would actually be downgraded, despite coming to what has been recognized as a more powerful set of consoles.
The website also points out that there appear to be more items on screen in the earlier version. All of this sounds like really bad news for people who were looking forward to the game, but it’s not like the game looks awful. In fact, it still looks pretty darn good. For whatever reason, there was a time when it looked better. Check out the screens below for comparison’s sake and then get wait to see what the Tom Clancy’s The Division looks like when it launches on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 8, 2016 and a beta for the game is coming later this month. The older build is on the left and the newer build is on the right in the screens below.
