If you haven’t had your fill of Bethesda re-releases, then take heart as The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. You can enjoy the base game with all expansions – Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn – alongside “hundreds” of items from the Creation Club for $59.99.
Even the exclusive Nintendo content, namely the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and Champion’s Tunic from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is included. Those who already own the Switch version can upgrade for free, so that’s nice. While Bethesda didn’t delve into all the improvements the Switch 2 version brings (mouse control support is unknown), you can look forward to an improved resolution, better performance and faster loading.
Even though it first arrived in 2011 and $60 is pretty steep, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is one of the best games of all time, so it may be worthwhile if you’re looking to jump into the series. Alternatively, you could wait for Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which is out next year on Switch 2. It’s also currently available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms, though it’s gone down with all the enthusiasm of lead balloon.
