To say that millions have been fervently anticipating the launch of The Last of Us Part 2 for years would be a colossal understatement. This is a game that is guaranteed to sell well, thanks to the pedigree of both the series and its developer. In fact, if pre-order numbers are anything to go by, the game’s already doing well for itself from a commercial perspective.
As IGN Brazil reports, in Brazil, The Last of Us Part 2 has become the most pre-ordered PlayStation Exclusive in the country of all time. That record was previously held by 2018’s God of War. Deluxe Editions of Naughty Dog’s upcoming sequel are apparently sold out, though standard retail editions are still said to be in stock.
It’s not just Brazil where the game is already in high demand. For instance, Sony recently revealed that it has more pre-orders in Europe than Marvel’s Spider-Man did in 2018 at the same time before its own release.
The Last of Us Part 2 is out exclusively for the PS4 on June 19.
