The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Sold Twice as Much as The Last of Us Part 1 on UK Debut

Naughty Dog and Sony's PS5 remaster has got off to an impressive start in the UK where its sales are concerned.

Naughty Dog has received plenty of criticism of late for the renewed emphasis it’s placed on re-releases, but clearly, those re-releases are paying off for it and Sony. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered launched last week, and it seems to have got off to solid start where its sales are concerned, having debuted at No. 3 in the weekly UK physical sales charts.

Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry has provided further context for how the game has performed, revealing on Twitter that at launch, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered managed to sell twice as much as Naughty Dog’s PS5 remake The Last of Us Part 1 did upon its launch in the UK in 2022.

The recently-released remaster’s success has been reflected in its critical reception as well, with the game currently sitting at a Metacritic score of 91.

In our own review, we awarded the remaster a score of 9/10, saying, “With a campaign that’s only gotten better with time, a fantastic new roguelike mode, and a host of other new bonuses, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered serves as an excellent excuse to jump back into Naughty Dog’s stellar magnum opus.” Read the full review through here.
