Famitsu has released the data for video game software and hardware sales in Japan for the week ending June 21. As the biggest new release of the week, it’s no surprise to see The Last of Us Part 2 performing well, as it has in other regions of the world as well. It has, in fact, topped the software charts, selling over 178,000 units in three days (though notably it’s the only non-Switch game in the top 10).
That performance is also surpasses the launch sales of various other major PS4 exclusives in Japan, including the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Bloodborne, God of War, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Uncharted 4: Among Thieves.
On the hardware front, the Switch rules the roost once more, as it usually does. Thanks to a significant boost from last week’s sales, it sold over 78,000 units across the week. The PS4 also saw a bit of a bump thanks to The Last of Us Part 2’s launch, selling nearly 13,000 units.
