The Lion King And Aladdin Are Getting Remasters For Current Hardware

Can't wait to be king.

It’s hard to believe, but once upon a time licensed games were done pretty frequently. While there has been somewhat of a resurgence in them lately, for a very long time they were basically regulated to the mobile space, if existing at all. Well, it’s time to harken to a different time as it’s been announced that two games based on classic Disney films are due for a remaster.

At the 2019 GME, a exhibition hosted by retailer Gamestop, it was announced that the 16-bit adaptations of Aladdin and The Lion King would be getting remastered this fall. It was originally posted via Twitter user wolverinefactor, which you can see below, and later confirmed by other sources.

Gematsu also got more information, saying that both versions of the two games would be available along with their soundtrack. While only console versions were mentioned, specifically PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch, they say there is also a PC version. It will include fully HD remastered versions of the games along with the ability to rewind and fast forward any part of the two titles.

As of now it’s not clear who is publishing or developing, so we’ll keep you updated. As of now we just know the collection will come in the Fall and pre-orders will begin via Gamestop starting today.
