The Outlast Trials Delayed to 2022, First Gameplay Revealed

After being abducted, players must survive a terrifying facility with all kinds of horrors, either alone or with up to four other players.

Red Barrels’ co-op psychological horror The Outlast Trials re-emerged at Gamescom Opening Night Live with the first reveal of its gameplay. Naturally, given its pedigree, there are all kinds of horrors set against the backdrop of getting better. Check it out below.

Instead of a sequel, The Outlast Trials is set several years prior to the previous games, taking place in the cold War era. Players are essentially confined to a facility run by the Murkoff Corporation and must venture through numerous rooms, dealing with various horrors (both physical and otherwise). You can either partake in these trials alone or with up to four friends, though escape doesn’t seem likely.

Originally slated to release this year, The Outlast Trials has been delayed to 2022. It’s currently slated for PC via Steam, Microsoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Stay tuned for more details, including potential console versions being announced, in the coming months.
