The Surge 2 Is Longer Than the First Game, Says Creative Director

Developer talks game’s length, many options, and just as many deaths.

Focus Home Interactive and Deck13’s The Surge 2 is apparently going to be out in a few months, but a lot of it is being kept under wraps. Deck13 doesn’t want to show a whole lot from the sequel to the sci-fi Souls-inspired action RPG.

They do want to talk about some things, however, and in an interview with Wcctech, Creative Director Jan Klose talked a lot about the game, from its features, to many of the new options, to its setting, and promised that, yes, there would be many deaths. It’s not a lot of information we haven’t gleaned from previews, but he did talk about the length of the game as well, saying it would definitely take longer to finish than the first game, which he felt averaged out to 25 hours in length.

“It’ll definitely take longer than the first one,” said Klose. “If you play it in a more linear way, just focusing on the first quest, the first one was an average of maybe 25 hours or something like that. If you really want to max it out, go to all the corners and really explore, there’s a lot more. I don’t honestly know how long.”

The Surge 2 has no release date yet, but it is coming some time this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out some new recently released screens here.
