Spiders’ newest game is The Technomancer, and while it sadly fails to live up to its potential, it’s still a game that’s absolutely recommended to most fans of either RPGs or science fiction- there’s a lot here that those guys will like.
That said, on the PC, this game has, like a lot of other PC releases, some problems. Most of them are minor, and The Technomancer is an unusually well optimized PC release- especially considering how small its developer is (and how much big name AAA developers screw up on this front). But there are still some problems, and if you have these, this guide should help you out.
But first, the recommended system specs:

CAN’T SAVE GAME
If you are having problems saving your game, you may need to run the application in Administrator mode. Right Click on the icon, click on Properties, go into Compatibility, and you will find the option to run the game as an administrator there. You may need to input your password to do so.
LAGGING
If your game lags, you may be facing any one of a variety of problems. Try one of the following fixes, they should help:
- Disable V-Sync. You may need to do this separately for your graphics card, and in the in game graphics settings.
- Turn off any SAO option in the game’s graphics setting menu
- Try lowering the graphics quality by tuning down the resolution, or some higher end graphical effects- this will lead to poorer visual quality, but conversely, could help with the stress causing the lag.
DLL ERRORS
These are caused at startup by not having the proper Redist files installed on your PC. To fix this issue, install c++ redistributables, and update DirectX to the latest runtimes.
Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of The Technomancer.
