The Witcher 3: ‘A Speedrun Takes 100 Hours’

Well now, that's just hyperbole.

The sequel to one of the best role playing games of last generation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is due out for release in 2015 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It’s a pretty safe statement to say that fans are understandably excited about the game, not least so because its sheer score seems to be absolutely staggering.

CD Projekt RED seems to be aware of this, and is even playing it up. For example, in a video interview (embedded above), they talked about the total play time of the game, and how a 100 hour completion time would be considered a ‘speedrun.’

The massive size of the open world, really. I’ve been there, I’m building it, and…it’s good. It’s a lot of content really, we advertised the game to have 100+ hours of gameplay, whomever finishes the game in 100 hours will get a medal because it’s gonna be a speedrun, there’s a lot of content!’

Well, come now, CDPR. Don’t fall into the Bioware trap of overhyping your games with hyperbole like that.
